As far as I recall, the Government refused to comply with the request. The propert5y was given to Alsancak Municipality, but never gtot used. All the outside goods - shed, pots etc etc, were stolen, and the Orams never received any kind of promised compensation (at the last count anyway). The property is nowhere near as healthy as it was.
But has anyone been round there recently. I confess I have not.

But to recap the order to demolish was given by the south! r rather the law courts.

The villa is in Lapta, not Alsancak, last I heard was that the Orams were being charged for the cost of the Beleydere cutting the garden weeds down.

I read that too Elizabeth, but don't know if it was followed through. Dreadful.

And why do we live here ? Destiny maybe. To teach us a lesson, maybe? For us to enjoy the good thing s of Cyprus? Maybe! There are far worse places, and maybe we make choices which sometimes get changed. Life is never static and places and people change. Good things happen and bad things happen - nothing new in that. Must admit at the moment I feel it is a little scary being so close to Akrotiri being used to contribute to the situation in Syria, but not half as scary as living in a London borough where I would not dare to go out at night alone.

Sorry, nothing to do with the Orams, that, so I could tell myself but just wanted to defend Cyprus. Who knows 'tomrorow' I might leave, but for today I feel I am in the right place , and know that many others feel the same.
