Ginger Marmalade on sale at Lemar Catalkoy Market

Due to popular demand we will have a new line of marmalade tomorrow - Ginger, in addition to the mixed citrus & whisky marmalades plus plum jam and a variety of chutneys. Not forgetting Groucho's own blend of Ras el Hanout.

Every week the market has new stalls and lots of the ones who took summer breaks have just returned. You need to get there early to buy Jan's delicious pasties - she sells out quick, Heidi's back with her lovely cakes (her carrot cake is to die for) and quiches. Lesley & Rae are back with the Tulips stall as well as Carole and her handmade cards. Mally's there every week with a wonderful selection of ladies wear, Pam's selling her beautiful pictures and the lovely Sarah with her fantastic selection of plaques. Other stalls sell makeup, sunglasses and smellies, good selection of plants and of course, plenty of bric a brac, books, DVDs & CDs. Too much to mention.

Generally, stalls are set up by 9am (10am at the latest) and start clearing away from 1.30pm (except Jan who usually sells out before noon).

Have heard that Jan may not be selling pasties at the market any more but all the other stalls should be there and we still have a couple of ginger marmalades left even though it was very popular last week.

Ginger marmalade has sold out but we have 900g jars of Esentepe Citrus or Mountain Honey at 20TL a jar. Plus today we have bedding - single sheets, single, double and king duvet cover/pillowcase sets.

For those missing their pasty fix, good news - Jan's friend Barbara has taken up the gauntlet and sells fruit scones as well as several pasty varieties.

Checked with Vicki, Groucho, so I know it starts at 7.30. How much is the spice so I can bring cash?

It's 6tl - per 40g sachet.... Each one is enough for at least three recipes - I will make sure I bring several - just in case anyone else pretending to be Mo wants some too....

Hey, Groucho - my husband went up to the Black Olive and no-one knew who you were so he came away empty-handed. Will you have the ras-el-hanout at the next Lambousa Market and can you save me 3 packets? And whereabouts are you at Lambousa?

Hi Mo sorry it didn't work out - we were there all evening and had told the organisers to look out for someone looking for me - We didn't get there until 7:30 but still not sure how we missed Brian -

Unfortunately we don't go to Lambousa - our market stall is No 14 at Catalkoy Lemar on Saturdays 9am - 1pm.

On Wednesday I will be at the quiz night at Bollywood Restaurant Karakum from 8pm onwards. I will have the spices with me just in case you or Bryan can make it... my name is Gavin by the way.

Must have been a comedy of errors because Bryan asked around for someone selling ginger marmalade as well as spice mixture and just got blank looks. I'll have to give it away until you're over this way again, Gavin, as we don't normally go over east -got 4 dogs and we don't like to leave them on their own too long in case they bark and our neighbours get cranky, we live in an apartment block. My ph no is: 0533 847 2437, so if you're over Alsancak way any time, give me a call and I'll pick up 3 packets of Ras El Hanout then. Sorry to have missed you last night, you must have arrived as Bryan was leaving!
