Help Needed Famagusta Compound

Please can anyone offer some help to the Famagusta Compound. They lost a puppy yesterday through the cold and rain and another is very ill at the vets, They need pallets to lift the dogs off the ground, Kennels, tin sheeting, plastic sheeting, handy blokes to knock something together. There are 3 ladies looking after 67 dogs and puppies, feeding, cleaning them out, etc etc etc. They have overcome Parvo and to loose a puppy because its cold just doesn't seem right. Hope for Pets don't want to help at Famagusta, Kar have their own problems, we at Helping Animals North Cyprus have just formed and are awaiting Charity Status before we can appeal for donations and hold fund raising events, to help the animalsr here at Kyrenia, Famagusta and Lefkosia. Until then we can only ask for gifts, please anything that will help to keep them warm and dry.

Both Wendy and I second all what Lor51 has stated. Even though the girls have managed to make improvements for the benefit of the puppies and dogs lives, things are still pretty grim for them. If there is anyone who could give a few hours or even a day and is good at basic DIY we, the 'Angels' and more importantly the animals would be eternally grateful. If you have old towels, toilet mats, old sheets and blankets , no matter how tatty, please let us know and we can arrange to pick anything up. Old kennels, dog beds, wood or metal sheets, things you probably would be thinking of throwing out as rubbish, could be used to make shelters to keep the puppies and dogs more comfortable as the winter nights draw in.
Any of the above would be the greatest gifts for the animals and make such a difference to their quality of life and even save lives!
Thank you.
BBB & Wendy.

Just wondering whether tarpaulins would be any use, they are easy to transport and if fixed securely could provide shelter. If you can confirm as a positive I will go and buy some for you.

Suehowlittle, on behalf of Lor51 and myself thank you for your offer of tarpaulin and YES please! We are sure that it would be a great help in making some sort of shelter for the poor animals.
Begging again for any help manually, physically or even with transport - anything would be so gratefully received.
Thank you..
Wendy BBB's other half.

Received and replied. Thank you very much Owl Lady, your help is much appreciated. One of our girls has decided to buy a kennel for 100tl rather than her and her husband going out for a meal. So think I will join her on that one. Thanks again.

When I first came here, I ended up with two stray dogs, before I had even got my own accommodation sorted and there were no pet shops in those days. I used old Tea Chests as kennels and cardboard boxes as dog beds, and newspaper as bedding! I also notice one of the local Vets uses newspaper for bedding for sick animals in their care. May not have looked good, but the dogs were very happy, comfy and healthy. And when the containers got dirty or if there is a parasite infestation they can be burnt!

Why not check if any local supermarkets, furniture shops and electrical goods retailers are throwing out containers that could be used? However, do check with a Vet if any of the more modern materials (such as foam rubber) could be dangerous if chewed.

Hi Bethany. Thank you for your offer. I will send you a pm. Don't want to announce on a public forum where the precise place is in case they end up with more dumped dogs. The lady in question will give you all the info you need. Thank you for your kind offer. Lor
