On the 9th November 2014 John and Maureen Swayne are organising a Darts Competition in memory of Pat Swayne at the O'Live Bar, Alsancak.

All proceeds will be split 50/50 between Tulips and the Girne Rehabiliation Centre.

Registration starts at 12.30pm and the competition will start at 1.30pm with entry only costing 10TL per person.

There will be a raffle with some 40 fantastic prizes ie a microwave, toasters, kettles, drinks, meals etc and music will be provided by Billy J Redif (starting at 7pm)

Even if you are not a dart player, please come along and enjoy the music and you may be lucky to win one of these fabulous prizes.

Food will be available.

Isn't this the same time that the annual Remembrance Day service starts in Girne? Could it not be delayed a little?

Agree with the above post why schedule it for Remembrance Sunday, have the organisers a short memory for the sacrifice of many during and since World War 1. The intentiuons may be sound but the execution of the date is far from good.

My post wasn't meant to be critical, only to point out there may be more interest, if it was delayed slightly!

The organisers are aware that the date of this event is the same as Remembrance Sunday and as such have been working hard behind the scenes to delay the start giving consideration to those who may wish to attend the remembrance service in Girne.

The sponsors for this event are, in the main, Turkish companies and as such Remembrance Sunday is not as important to them as it is to us, as obviously many of their public holidays are not necessarily as important to our community.

There was no disrespect intended to Remembrance Sunday when this event was planned however the organisers do have to accommodate the all the sponsors, dignitaries and attendees of this event.

We can confirm that the organisers have managed to delay the start time to 2.30pm (registration will start as originally stated at 12.30pm), hopefully this will give anyone time to make their way to the O’Live Bar should they be interested in attending this event.
