We use Dr Hatice at the Cyprus Eye Clinic.
We have always been happy with her but some people on the forum have other opinions.
I can only speak as I find and would recommend her.

I'm one of the people who most definitely wouldn't. Some of the hospitals have eye testing facilities as well you know.

I went to the Canada Optics in Karakum and the lady booked an appointment for me near the old British cemetery / Sammy's Hotel. The time before was the eye clinic I was ok but my husband still has problems with the treatment he was given and now gets his eyes tested back in the UK. I believe she has moved from near the army camp in Girne 'high street' to near the bellapais traffic lights
Dr Mustafa Guvenir in Lefkosa, tel: 0392 223 6640 is another that came recommended

I went to Near East University had a very good complete test done, with an English speaking eye doctor the tests done were as in UK and further tests were available for problems
I phoned first and made an appointment, it was difficult to park and a bit of a trek maybe. the hospital is huge
but IMO worth it. charge 80TL

Charlotte55, glad you said that, because as I said earlier some if not all hospitals do eye tests as well. I think I read somewhere on this forum that someone had made an appointment at the state hospital and was very pleased with the treatment received. In other words there are more than the two that most people recommend.

The State Hospital in Girne has very good optical facilities and opticians. You just go and register ( take your passport) and then to the optical department and book an appointment with the optician. Usually a lady who will do the test and issue you with a lense prescription which you take to any optician to make up your glasses. We use Akay on the High Street, they will fit new lenses to your existing frames if you don't want the expense of new frames.

Muffin, is the lady Optician in Girne Hospital the same person who has a small office opposite the Harley Davidson place on the Karakum Road?

Her name was Dr Sevim - I'm not sure if there is more than one optician operating in the State Hospital.
