Horror Story

I have just been held to ransom by Jo Valentine removals to the cost of £2,100.00 to receive my furniture that I had already paid the full cost of shipping, if I did not pay the shipping company they were within their legal rights to auction "my worldly goods" to recoup the shipping costs Jo Valentine owed them.
If anybody on this forum has/or knows of anybody expecting a container/goods handled by this company please be warned that they will receive an email on the morning of delivery telling them that she is unable to pay the shipping agent, please, please don't fall into the trap like I have.
If anybody needs further information, or has information of this happening to them please send me a private message

How awful for you but I thought she had already ceased trading - rumours early 2014 they were in financial trouble
I hope UK laws will help you as she must be registered there

We used them just over two years ago and luckily for us everything was OK. They did have a representative living out here, who with another chap did removals on the island. Did you have a contact number for him? We are so sorry for what you have gone through and something must be done to stop them doing this again. Must admit, we both met the Lady and did not have any doubts about her or her company! You just never know, do you?

We used them 2 years ago and everything went extremely well, except the shipping agent in Famagusta said they would not release the goods until they were paid! I then rang Jo and she duly transferred the money.
About 6 months later I heard the firm Valentines had gone into receivership. However I heard she was still acting as an agent for Bouchards, the shipping company, but basically the shipping company were handling the finances!
I cannot believe she would do this to you and I just hope you can agree something with the shipping agent tin Famagusta to obtain your goods.
The whole shipping thing is a 3 way thing, there is an agent in UK, the actual shipping line and then the agent in TRNC. If one goes down then you are in a mess.

Thank you all for your replies, I will be taking this further both here to alert what has happened to me and to warn others, I will also be informing the authorities in the UK, because this is Fraud, this woman took my money under false pretenses knowing full well she could not pay the shipping agent here. I have that in writing from her in an email. I'm sure there must be others that might have goods in transit or are considering using this company, I want them to be made aware of whats gone on. Any help of your experiences and correspondense with this company would be greatly appreciated as this has to stop.

Dreadful that this person who was responsible for heartache here and loss of money and has now set herself up in U.K is doing it again. But rejoice that it is in U.K because there you can get something done. Get her arrested for fraud- get her locked up - get her to repay all the monies she 'stole' under false pretences. Goodness knows how she ever got a licence to trade, but the only people who can get her stopped are those she has defrauded. iT SEEMS SHE HAS NO IDEA OF BUSINESS ETHICS, OR COMPASSION. Sorry to say that the salvation of others lies in your hands , Wookie . If you do nothing you will not help yourself, of other current victims or other future ones.
From what you have shared with us all, I cannot see that there would be any mitigating circumstances whatsoever to justify what Valentines has done.
I personally hate it when others feel they have the right to walk on others, rip them off, insult them, try to degrade them and they are never stopped because no one has the backbone to do anything about it.
I am SURE you have Wookie, and the more stories you can collect the better your ammunition.
Normally I am full of the Christian ideals of compassion, love, forgiveness etc, etc, but when one sees that an evildoers has no remarose or compassion, then the time for justice arrives and if I seem angry, I guess I am because this woman has had the nerve to go bankrupt here and started up again living off money given to her to provide a service.

That's terrible, feel so sorry for you.

Thank you Marions for your words, I will be taking this as far as I can, so any help the members on this forum can give me regarding any information they have regarding this company I would greatly appreciate, especially if they have had to pay money to receive their goods. I always judge people on face value, and obviously to my own detriment am very trusting. This company needs to be stopped NOW, because I would not wish the horrendous few days of heartache I have had to go through on anyone.

I have credit checked and James Valentine Removals Ltd was dissolved 5th August 2014.
Currently no limited companies using any similar names / Medmovers or post code DN6 8LT so would seem non-limited Company now.
Very sorry with what has happened as Jo did us a cracking job 2.5 years ago.

I am sure you will be OK Rosie, they seem to have had a good reputation in the past.
They lost my stuff in 2008 when I moved from there to Germany. I suspect it was stolen from their Famagusta storage, and I suspect they had a good idea who had taken it.
I have used Britannia on a number of occasions, and always had good service from them.
