Taking Visitors to the South (November 23, 2014)

Hi all,
My parents, as well as an aunt and uncle, will be coming to Cyprus in about a week's time to visit and see my young children. While my parents, who have been several times and will probably come again some day, are most interested in spending time with their new grandkids, my aunt and uncle are unlikely to visit again and are trying to see as much of the island as possible. We had a free day on November 23rd which we'd planned to use to visit the South side, maybe visiting Lefkara, after renting a car. However, none of the places we called (who had been recommended as letting people drive North to South) allowed that. We still wish to take at least 5 adults (preferably 6 adults and 1 toddler aged child) to see Lefkara or maybe another traditional Greek village. Can anyone recommend a way to do this so that we can see a traditional Greek Cypriot village type of thing without having a rental car from the North? It seemed more trouble than it was worth the rent a car in the North for every day except that and then try to rent one in the South. Are there tours that leave from Lefkosa which might show us some traditional villages and a village lunch without us having to drive? I haven't really been able to find anything since it's a sundayThis is the only part of the island I haven't been able to show to my parents and I know they'd enjoy comparing the north and south portions, so any advice (or possibly offers to work as a chaffeur to everyone for a day if any of you have a vehicle that could accommodate us all) would be very welcome.

Hi,
Have you thought of going to Nicosia and walking across the Border at Ledra St [not Ledra Palace] and catching a local bus? It's only a ten minute walk from the Border to the bus station and you can go as far as Paphos from there. The buses go all over the Island quite cheaply so well worth thinking about.

Most of the car hire companies have people carriers that they use for airport transfers and I am sure that they will give you a price for a day out in one of their vehicles, with a driver. Try Ozay (Ibo Taxis) as they are very helpful. Ozay's phone number is: 0533-8656305

Hi

Not sure but I think you can only hire a car for three days minimum from either side also buses may not run as a Sunday (tour buses may).
