Mother cat and four kittens

Thought I'd give it a try anyway....
I have just taken into my house, a very young mother cat and her 4 kittens. They had an uncertain future so I made a quick decision. They are all doing well and settled. As I have 7 cats of my own and numerous 'stop by and eat' cats, I would obviously like to find homes for them. I am willing to pay for their operations and certainly will get the poor young mother speyed as soon as is possible. There are 2 ginger, one black and white and one tabby. They are ready to go now. So if anyone out there would like to offer a home to one or more of these delightful cats, please let me know.

I cant take any of the kittens Allietoo, I just wanted to say good luck to you. I have an indoor cat and he wont tolerate other cats, and also my dog dosent like other cats. I feed quite a few cats in my area and have managed to catch 3 and have them operated on, the downside of it, is that they havent come back for food, so I hope that they are all ok.

Thank goodness there are people out there who really care!
I have just returned to KAR two little kittens who came to me for fostering when they were 3 weeks old and their chances of survival were slim.
After feeding them special kitten milk from a syringe every 1.5 hours (yes nights as well) for 3 weeks, they finally became strong enough to tackle real food. After 4 weeks they were double their weights and playing like strong healthy kittens. The hardest thing was to return them to KAR which upset me
In our garden our resident feral female cat has just produced a 6 week old kitten. When her kittens were first born (outside of our garden) something must have killed them all, mother had wounds and we were sure that ALL the kittens had been killed. We think she grabbed one kitten and ran to our garden with it. It is a joy to watch her caring for it and playing with it.
Hope they stick around so that we can trap them and get them speyed when the kitten is big enough to take care of itself for a couple of days.
I am not called catwoman for nothing by my friends.

We have been adopted by a white cat, with obvious Siamese heritage, called Snowflake, who made herself at home THEN brought in her two kittens. We're waiting until they're weaned, then we'll get mum neutered, and the two little ones when they're old enough, plus get their injections. So it's been a case of first you get one, then you get three, but no, now we have four as we have started feeding a stray ginger cat. It used to sit at our gate and watch mum and the kids eating, and looking forlorn (a ham actor, we reckon, as it's quite sturdily built) so now we're putting out food for this cat too. Sorry we can't help with your four kittens, but it's pretty chaotic here with the two kittens rushing all over the place, although they're enormously entertaining. We are planning on a 3-week visit to the UK to see family and friends in Sept-Oct, so we'll put them in care. Does anyone know if there's a cattery operating at all?

Hi, You can have the mother cat speyed while she is still feeding the kittens - it won't affect that at all.
In fact, it is best done straight away, as they can get pregnant again very quickly!

Oh, thanks for that piece of advice, two kittens are plenty, they're a real handful!

I was thinking of opening a cattery but the hoops to jump through were too much, being legal that is. Friends also advised against it telling me that all sorts of
strays would be dumped at my door, and to be honest I agree with their sentiments. Ref Keiths message, I had a kitten who had kittens in for her op last week and the vet asked me if the kittens were weaned, I told him that they were 6 weeks old, so he said ok he would do the op, so I think that the milk will be affected, either that or the fact that mum needs to be away from the kittens for 24 hours plays a part.

Thanks for that last piece of advice. We're checking with the vet today, but if we take her in, we'll probably take the kittens too, so they can stay with her. It's a madhouse here already with two kittens and mum running around all over the place, and I hate to think what would happen if we had just the two kittens here, we'd worry about them running away to look for their mum, as they're still very close to them, plus she goes looking for them if they've hidden themselves somewhere.

She was still feeding them but I have weaned them off her now. She is going in this week to be speyed and the kittens too when they are old enough. They are driving my old 'settled' cats mad by running around them, into them, on top of them etc! I too am hoping to go away for a month in Sept/Oct. Any petsitters out there? You have to care.

I pay £100 a week for someone to live here and look after the cats. This is the best solution as they are in their own home and do not suffer the stress of being in cages and in a strange place. Works both ways as I pay the electricity, water etc.. so it's living free for a month but I do vet the applicants.

I really do think that pets are better looked after in their own homes.
They could never get stressed then (they just sulk for a couple of days)

Yes, all animals are better cared for in their own homes. Imagine it, your owner and best friend goes away, that's bad enough! but hey, on top of that, you are put into a cage in a strange place and no longer able to roam around doing your own thing....' Don't like this one bit.'
But it is difficult to find someone who will care for the animals, notice if they are not well and perhaps off their food and just generally care for them. I was lucky with Vanessa. She gave them the care they are used to. But, bless her, I don't think she wants to do it again. Other thing is, she is planning a trip in October same as me.

Roma, email metin(Dawn) as she really loves and cares for animals. She's always taking stray ones in, or taking strays to vets etc.

Thanks Stella,
All the cats/kittens are fine. Really need to find a home for the kits, all except for Rosco, who is definitely staying. She is such a good mother for such a young cat, she is only about 6 months herself. Last night a dog came into my garden... this morning, she had moved them all to the top of the water tank where no dog could get them. She is very bossy and wakes me up at 6am for food. I really hope someone will read this and decide they want a kitten, but hey ho,they are safe with me. Will email Dawn re catsitting. See you Saturday.

Mother Puss booked in with Pertev for speying on Friday... Kittens showing a preference for Le Cat biscuits. They are delightful and gave me so much pleasure just watching them last night as they played in the garden at dusk.

I have just had 2 kittens arrive, they also like la cat, one male and one female, they walked right into the cat cage for their food, so will take them this afternoon for their ops. If its not rude to ask Allietoo, what is the price you pay, I am paying 100 for the males and 200 for the females, and not sure if this is too much.

I always go to Pertev... have to say 100 for the males is a good price. I would be looking at more like 175 for the females... But we're talking 25 lira here and you are doing a good thing. 25 Lira ? However, bargain, I always do!
