Looking for 3m x 3m in plain colours. I have tried all the local shops and most only sell patterned and sizes are 2m x 3m. In have also tried IKEA & Leroy Merlin to no avail. Are there any places in Lefkosia where you can buy carpet from the roll? Judy

Have you tried the Wednesday market?

Funnily enough I am going to have a look today thank you but can't remember seeing any plain ones before!

There used to be a stall selling large rugs at Lambousa market but don't know if they are still there

Mermaid in Karakum has some 2 weeks ago.

I got mine from Toros in Lefkosa but that was some years ago.

There was another place I found near the 3rd traffic lights on the way to Ercan - it was upstairs at the Toyota dealership and they had a massive range but I don't know if they are still there. I don't recalll seeing them recently but if they've moved they may still sell them at their new premises if someone can tell you where they are.

Have you tried Onders in Lefkosia, they have a large selection of rugs and carpeting by the roll. I haven't actually looked for any myself so I can't confirm whether they are plain colours or not. Worth a try though.

Toros in Girne can supply carpet from the roll.

Yes Mermaid have a huge selection downstairs and I'm sure if they don't have what you want they will get it for you.

we had a look today at the market 2.5 x 3.00 160lira another stall 3 x 3 350 lira nice but not a lot of colors to chose from.

The market only had 1 or 2 plain rugs and the largest ones were 2m x 3m, so not quite wide enough. Toros sell carpet by the roll and that is 4m wide and they have a selection of plain colours but they were quite thin. Mermaid cannot get plain rugs and their maximum size is 3m x 2m in any case. I went to Onder but they have ceased trading.
In the end I went to Leroy Merlin in the South and they had some quite decent rugs in several plain colours. Not the right size but bought 2, 160 x 230 and will join them together. They are a long shaggy pile so the join shouldn't really show.

Judyvin, did you mean Onder in Lefcosia has ceased trading completely ?

Jen, If it is the one next to Ciddi Mutfak, on a small slip road that runs parallel to the main road into town, then yes. I don't know if they have moved elsewhere but that store was definitely closed and all the windows were covered up with newspaper. Judy

Judyvin, you went to the wrong Onders (that one closed nearly a year ago) You need to go to the large shop on the RHS as you go down the road that goes to the Metehan. Its about 500 yards after the Y fork. 3 or 4 stories high and blue glass from top to bottom. Plenty of car parking at front or down the RHS side and the rear.

If you want to risk bringing a rug back from the South Ikea have a good selection plain and patterned.

Onders

Drive into Nicosia. Pass the State hospital, straight over mini roundabout. (pass the closed Onders on your right hand side). Drive on at the first traffic lights. At the major junction, flour factory on your right hand side, drive straight on again. Pass old Cyprus Turkish airline offices on your left hand side by yet anther set of traffic lights, drive straight on. Take right hand fork in the road. Onders is a few hundred metres on your right hand side.
