Not sure if you are aware, but last week there was a cyber attack on HSBC in Turkey which they were able to stop. Consequence is if you try at the moment to pay over the internet for goods or services e.g. Amazon there is every chance it will be refused by the bank. This is a short term problem and should be resolved shortly, but I am told it is for our protection. I tried booking a hotel in the UK and the payment was refused, better to be for warned.

That explains why on Monday ALL our cards were refused at a local hotel in Catalkoy. Fortunately now all O.K.

Am I correct in assuming this only applies to HSBC Turkish cards , or are HSBC credit cards issued in the UK also affected?
