Does anyone have a phone number for the Residency Dept that I can use to check if my residency is ready so that I don't waste a journey over there.

i know she only answers the phone in the mornings i think if i remember rightly its 08:00 to 11:00 make sure you have passport number to hand as well

We picked ours up last week,were there for 7-30,already 8 names on list ,doors open and numbers given out at 8-30,we were 9 and 10 ,by 9-15 we were on our way home. It does get incredibly busy,but more people on desks now,but i'd still reccomend an early start.

We arrived at 7.30 and were 22 and 23 on the list. Tickets given out at 8.15 and we were seen at 9.40, finished by 10. There were about 7 people processing so it moved quite quickly.

Went to collect our residency today, arrived at 1.55, office opened at 2.15, stamped and paid for and enjoying a coffee by 2.35, now that is what I call progress.

Do you still get a number in the afternoon?

If you wait outside the office door the man comes out about 2.10 and gives your number, then he goes into the waiting room and gives them out to the rest of the people waiting.
The last one this morning must have been 68, we were given 69 and were dealt with straight away.

After 7 attempts at doing residency I can honestly say - there is no "BEST TIME".

Have done the early start, taken 2 hours. Been at 10am, in and out in 15 minutes, done afternoon finished in 1 hour. This year there was only 2 staff working, last year 4!!!

Everybody seems to have their own tale and their own advice of best time to go. Just go when you feel like it, that is the best time.
