Where are you attempting to end up?

do you know how to get home from Metehan/Ikea/Pyla?

If you state where you are wanting to end up we might cut to the chase...

As Waddo's link shows - you leave Paphos heading towards Limassol (Lemesos) and then on to Lefkosia. You turn off the motorway just after the Apoel Stadium on the LHS and turn left following signs for Troodos. This leads you through several roundabouts and traffic lights (you keep straight on) until you come to a T junction at the top of a small hill by the large Church on the RHS. Turn right and keep on this road past the GC military graveyard and on to pass the military base at Engomi and then turn left at the traffic lights just after the Coca-Cola factory. This road leads to the Metehan crossing point.

From Paphos, take the A6 Motorway, signposted for Limasol (LEMESOS) and Nicosia (LEFKOSIA) - it will become the A1 Motorway as you pass Limasol

Stay on the A1 when you reach the interchange for Larnaca (A5) and keep following the signs for Lefkosia / A1 until you pass a very large stadium on your left.

Take the left hand slip road signposted TROODOS, and bear left, leaving the A1, and joining the B22, which is part of the ring road around Nicosia.

Stay on that road, going straight across all roundabouts, until you hit a 'T' junction- turn RIGHT, and stay on that road, going across the 'Olympic Rings' roundabout (ignoring the GC soldier having a quick fag by his sentry box ), past the Coca Cola factory, and then turn LEFT at the traffic lights.

After about 1 Kilometer, you will see a load of Bollards forming a slip lane to your left, keep to the left, and the bollards will guide you past the GC checkpoint - you don't have to stop there. Further on you will come to the TRNC checkpoints where you have to show your passports, fill in a Visa slip, & buy insurance for TRNC if necessary (you will, I think, need all your car documents, and a letter authorizing use in TRNC if it is a GC-registered vehicle). Make sure that you stop the vehicle directly in front of the booth, so that the official can clearly see the car's occupants.

Leaving the checkpoint, stay on the same road, straight across roundabouts until you reach a 'T' junction - turn LEFT, and stay on that road, following signs for Girne (Kyrenia) up and over the mountains.

After you pass the Laughing Buddha Chinese restaurant (beware the speed camera!) there is an interchange where you can take the left hand slip road for Girne (Kyrenia) or go straight on, under the interchange for Alsancak, Lapta, Karsiyaka.

Assuming that you are heading for Kyrenia, take the slip road and go straight across the roundabout towards Kyrenia.

At the bottom of the hill is another roundabout - Left will take you to Karaolanoglu and Alsancak etc, straight on will take you to the Colony Hotel and the Town centre, and right will take you towards the Pia Bella Hotel, and everywhere East of Kyrenia.

Do observe the speed limits at all times, there are loads of speed cameras, and speed bumps to catch out the unwary

Enjoy!

I have posted a comprehensive answer to this question here, as no one had answered the post.

Why do people duplicate posts?

Grrrr....

Keith, may I draw your attention to my message in reply (Msg 4) and ask that you simply click on the link I provided. Please let me know if it fails as I tried it after I posted it and everything worked ok, it is the easiest way of giving directions that I could find.

Mick

Hi Waddo,

Yes, your link works just fine - although I'm not convinced that it's the easiest route to follow., although it's certainly the easiest method of actually giving directions, one that the OP could have used, in fact

The problem was that the OP had posted the question twice, and I first saw the one that had not had any replies, and posted my response there.

It looks as though one of our kind mods has now moved my post to this thread, and deleted the other thread altogether, which makes for a confusing sequence..

Never mind - all's well that ends well

Hi Keith, Also have noticed that it works far better on a PC/Laptop than on a tablet! Probably because Android hates me but what the heck, its of some use anyway. Now all phild has to do is tell us if he gets here - lol. Of course if we get a posting from Malta saying he is lost, I can blame Google! You, on the other hand...........

Take care out there people! Its a grand life, look after it.
