Has anyone else lost all the channels except for euro news. I know the update said it was under maintenance but just wondered if it was just me that had a problem.

I haven't even got euronews.
I do have a selection of scandinavian channels on the menu but they are as blank as all the others.

Typical, they send out an email informing everyone of the upgrade then nothing? So much for it will take a few hours? Hopeless, just hopeless, you lose the will to live some days here! Why not inform everyone that they are having problems and that its taking longer than they thought.

I was in contact with NTV for about an hour this morning. Got it sorted in the end. If you have a mag250 box to get your NTV you may need to update your box in the settings menu. there is instructions on their web site, but not easy for a techno dummy like me.

I'm a dummy so no chance at all for me. Good luck to those who can do this. I'll have to wait till ntv do it themselves. Shows you how much of a dummy I am. Didn't know where router plug was until today, 2 years on !!!!!!!

The instructions for the MAG250 are incorrect - they show the update as August and when you press verify nothing happens. I have sent them 4 messages to date with no response. Getting very annoyed.

If you go to menu using your remote.
Scroll reight to settings press OK
Scroll down to software update press OK
Scroll down to start update press OK
On the next page the URL box will be highlighted you will see the cursor at the end. Using the screen keyboard which you access from the screen keyboard button on the remote then use the arrows and OK to select the letters you need to have the following in the box
http://mag.infomir.com.ua/250/imageupdate
Based on you having a Mag 250 box
Scroll down to verify, a popup box will ask if you want to reboot click yes and you should be good.

Once again, thanks Jonnie.

Muffin,
When you see the URL with all those numbers in you need to delete them. To do this find your keypad on your remote, it should be the third one down on the left. Once you have the keypad displayed go to the left arrow key, if you press that several times it gets rid of all the numbers in the URL box. Once that box is clear go back to this thread, you will see in Jonnies instructions a green line starting http//: Etc this has to be typed into the URL box, then press verify, then start update.

TRNC Vaughan, correct, a simple message like this would solve 99% of this problem. As usual, crappy service, can't be arsed attitude, typical of most business here, Multimax excepted

Many thanks to Jonnie and Mollie the cat - now up and running again although lots of channels are still missing but no doubt they will return in time. As TRNC Vaughan says a big 0 out of 10 for NTV Customer (complete lack of) service. Thank goodness for everyone who contributes to Kibcom.

Just to clarify this is the url you need. The one in the original message looks lke a link so may confuse.
http://mag.infomir.com.ua/200/imageupdate
footnote:- It always shows as a link but it is what you need to type in

Just one thing to point out. The information needs to be typed in lower case. I was trying it and only noticed after the 26th time that the keyboard was in upper case!!!!!! i am now ready for the football thanks Jonnie.

Boy, am I glad I did not bother with a MAG250 box and paying 29.99 euros for a 30 day package! Instead I bought an acer RL80 mini computer and pay 14.99 euros for the same package that you get on the MAG250, the down side is I have no remote to change channels and actually have to get out of my chair to do it - so sad. The up side is I save 15 euros every 30 days which paid for my RL80 in 9 months so now its all gravy - oh yeah, I also have the benefit of having a full blown computer attached to my 42 inch TV screen so I can surf away and not miss the small print as it is BIG!!
Had no problems apart from there is no TV Guide since the NTV upgrade - all channels are there and there is much less buffering than before.

Waddo,
Good for you, gold star 10/10. There can be nothing worse than someone coming on here bragging how good their system is over those struggling on here to get with the upgrade on NTV. tell you what why don't we all change to your set up?
Re: NTV Channels

Mollie the cat - you missed the point of the post, I guess that was to be expected. I would not recommend the use of a computer to all users and a lot need to stick with simple things that have remotes or they get into lots of trouble. The whole point is that a lot of people don't even know that there is an alternative to a MAG250 - so they continue to pay through the nose.
Would you like me to re-phrase my earlier post so that it starts out by say "Don't waste your money"?

One of the benefits I find with the MAG250 set up is that I can catch up with most chanels I use up to a week afteer the show has been on. I also use it for downloaded things as it has a USB interface. There is also many films available in the video club section.
Despite issues we have all had today I found the online support very helpful which is what I subsequently brought to this board. I also think it is important to note that this has all been brought about by a system upgrade which would suggest the suppliers are at least trying to make things better in the long run.

Jonnie, as a long time computer user I went for the PC alternate, mainly because I under stand them. I could not see the point in going down the MAG route for me but I do understand that it is better for some than for others. As a PC user of NTV the upgrade has given me no problems apart from a lack of a programme guide, it would be interesting to know if that problem also exists on the MAG system?
I seem to have upset Mollie but it was not intentional, simply pointing out that there are more ways to watch NTV than what I see as the expensive MAG system. But must also repeat that the PC system is not for everyone! For instance my system runs on Linux 17 Mint (cinnamon) which is a free O/S that emulates Windows 7 in appearance only, beyond the appearance it can be a nightmare for those with limited computer systems knowledge. But it is fun.
What I lose is the catch up facility of the MAG system but that's about it as if its UK TV then I can use the free VPN from Multimax and play catch up on iPlayer (I think).

The listings are off on the MAG box. They were on but bbc were scheduling Sky news. They were unaware of this and had quite a surprise when I pointed it out, it was all then pulled so I should imagine they are working on it.

They told me they were aware of the listings issue and will sort it, but it is further down their priorities list, understandably.

Waddo,
No offence taken, I really do appreciate others point of view, we as NTV users have been very frustrated today due to the "big upgrade" however, as usual we experienced the usual buffering and freezing this evening!
For those not technically savvy including me, we tend to go for the "soft option" and as you say pay through the nose. NTV is what it is, what you see is what you get, no frills but its what we have. Now then, we do have the footy this evening at least.

Have just had an e.mail reply from NTV with a step by step guide to updating the system - as given by Jonnie & Mollie. Why could NTV not have provided this initially and saved many of us from a massive escalation in blood pressure, steam coming out of the ears and various other symptoms of total frustration that this has caused. Total lack of proper planning and preparation as usual.

Think you may be right there Teatime. I do not think it effected all the boxes and perhaps it was just some versions of the firmware and for whatever reason unexpected.
