Fireworks or Fireworks Display Organiser? Can you help

Hi - for an event next Summer we are looking at ending with a modest fireworks display. Does anyone know if there is a company or individual who can provide this? Has anyone bought single ignition firework displays here (or over the border)? Any help gratefully received.

You will need a special licence for any sort of fireworks.
I did see these people advertise about 5 years ago, saying that they could organise the whole thing, but I don't know if they're still around...
Mus 0533 848 5228
Suzan 0533 866 1976
I know that the RBL have had displays in the past, so they might be able to give you a few pointers if you don't get any joy from the above contacts, also Chateau Lambousa have displays.

A word of caution, be very very careful about taking/bringing fireworks over the border as they are regarded quite rightly as explosives... if you did attempt this the authorities would take a very strong line on the offence.
Also ask the event company to make sure the trajectory of any flying fireworks is out to sea... as you are planning a summer event - forest fires started by fireworks are a distinct possibility otherwise.
Good luck with the event

I would suggest that you speak to Gordon Kent - you can get his contact number from the Lambousa Saturday Market Coffee shop. There is only one person on the island who is licenced and Gordon will have his contact details and be able to give you lots of advice. I spoke to him just bfore Bonfire Night and he said that it is really expensive and regulated by the Fire Service. I belive it is a criminal offence to opperate without a licence.

keithcaley,
5 years is a long time ago - Suzan and Mus are no longer here!
Suggest as above, speak with Gordon Kent or Ian at Lambousa Market see if they can guide you.

I rather suspected as much - they used to run the card shop, didn't they?
That's why I included the RBL / Lambousa option, although when I checked, I realised that Chateau Lambousa/Celebrity Group had actually organised a fireworks display on behalf of the RBL, so it was a bit of a circular reference!
Never mind, they'll get there in the end...

Yes they did run the card shop, in fact 2 of them.
They will Keith but other than talking to one of the big hotels, I do not know of anyone else for them to ask.

Try contacting Vashti at Surya-Harrell North Cyprus Weddings (
http://www.north-cyprusweddings.com/) as it's common to have fireworks at weddings here and she will know who to get in touch with.

Hi Jonesy,
I've been organizing Bonfire Night and Fireworks at Lambousa for the past four years so I have some experience of what's involved in fireworks displays here.
If you're looking for something just a little bit bigger than a squib or whizzbang (which are probably illegal anyway) you're going to have to apply to a whole range of Authorities and comply with some pretty stringent requirements. Also, you will not be able to manage the display yourself; you will have to use licensed operators.
Please bear in mind that - for the past few years at least - licenses for fireworks at summer weddings are unlikely to be given - and certainly not if the venue is not seaside or if they can not be fired over the sea.
Should you need any other information please feel free to contact me on 0533 862 4662.

Thanks for all of the advice and background info. I will shelve the fireworks plan as it seems a bit too difficult (and not a cost effective option for a charity event).
Already looking forward to the Summer fireworks displays at Kyrenia (normally every Saturday evening)

Cenk at Kamelya the florist in Kyrenia can organise vulcanna fireworks. I organise weddings and we often have them as the bride and groom cut their cake.
