What extras? Just checked a flight from Manchester everything included, meal and 23kg luggage, plus you get drinks included. £270 each sounds ok to me.

Thanks for the tip for last minute.com. Just booked flights back to the UK for the middle of June £248. I have never had them that cheap before.

You are welcome, that's a great price! I think it is always cheaper to book well in advance

I'm not quite sure what you mean - No airline is allowed to fly 'non-stop' to TRNC from any Country other than Turkey, as the TRNC is not recognised as being a legitimate destination in a recognised Country.

The definition of a 'direct' flight is one where you don't have to get off the 'plane, i.e. it may stop at one or more places en-route to let passengers on and off, and occasionally, as is the case with flights to TRNC, to change the flight number because all flights to TRNC have to , technically, originate from one of the airports in Turkey, but you stay in the same seat, on the same 'plane.

I'm not sure if that answers your question or not - feel free to clarify if it doesn't.

Atlasjet fly from Luton via Istanbul from around March/April until October - you don't have to get off at Istanbul. Their price includes food and baggage, they even do discounts for students. Pegasus fly from Stansted landing, but no need to disembark, in Turkey - no food included in basic price. If you don't want to travel via Turkey only choice is to fly south. Don't think you can fly with Turkish airlines here without changing planes in Istanbul.

We flew Turkish from Manchester last October. Very impressed with the Airline but not the change of plane at Istanbul. We had to run between planes as the changeover was that tight. Not much contingency if the Manchester leg delayed. Plane landed on time but no bay to park it.

More time on the way back but took us ages to get to the new gate. Long walk and strict security.

Flown Turkish Airlines many times via Istanbul with plane change. You can take a chance and book a short stopover in Istanbul of maybe 1hr. But you will need to get a move on and if inbound flight delayed you will miss connection. Bags may also miss the transfer. You can choose your connecting flight from Istanbul to Ercan and give yourself more time if you want. Overall TA very impressive and if booked early prices good to.

Flown Pegasus a couple of times and even tho you don't get off the plane in Istanbul we have decided that service is poor, no IFE and overall experience not good. Won't fly with them again.

The reason I started this thread is that my wife and I flew Turkish Airlines on the exact same dates last year (June July) for less than £500 this time when booking again at the same time the price is nearly £1000 thats some increase, the flights into Edinburgh are less than half this,is it possible that airport charges, fuel surcharge and insurance just for Birmingham have shot up?

Leither...I had the same experience with TA a couple of years ago. Because of my husbands work dates had to book a flight for him that was ott..almost double. When I called TA they said I should have waited as they release flights in batches and..true to their word..the flight price came down a few weeks later. Unfortunately I had booked a flight that couldn, t be changed. Probably worth a wait.

We regularly fly to Manchester, on the return flight it has always been at tight squeeze landing at 17.10 and the flight to Ercan 18.10. In june the flight to Ercan is now 18.50, not so much a rush, may even get time for a drink in the business lounge.

While on the subject of flying, we have been granted access to the CIP lounge at Ercan airport via our Iktisat card. Don't hold your breath it's nothing special, not sounding ungrateful here but you can get a coffee and a cake and that's about it. The lounge is separated, we were greeted with "thats your side".

"Ordinary" (ie unaffiliated to some bank or casino) business class passengers do not qualify for entrance to the lounge at Ercan. Didn't think I was missing much when I saw there was no-one in there.
