Always good food and service there.

Courtyard, Rafters and the now-defunct Sele were my favourite restaurants.

Thank You so much , also thank you Lapta Tony and Hilary for recommendation. Hope I did you proud. (our kid) I will admit that having a mixture of Cypriot guests and I think some Greek did concern me, and it was a bit awkward at first, with volume and layout.

But the vibes, I got later were good, The place looked stunning, Mo and his team had gone the extra mile. it reminded me of a cosy english country pub, especially with the wood fire and log burners.

Where the Chimes loud enough, I tried to replicate Big Ben , but I turned it down when the room shook.

Yes the food looked first rate, Mo offered me full menu, but I don,t like to eat when performing, (must watch my phrasing) I'd finish up spitting bits of food over the audience.

But he kindly gave me the full works for a take out, I needed a wind down, so called into Merit Casino at 2 30 am it was heaving. The place looked incredible all the croupiers dressed in little tight sparkly numbers all different bright colours. (not the male ones) .I think they threw me out at about 7 30. So I ate my dinner microwaved at 8.00am and yes it was good food.

I must admit that they cooked what I describe as English type fayre to perfection. I would not hesitate to go there.

Thanks to you all and a Very Happy New Year.

Heaven, I did try the curry there and it was OK, But there is a problem with me with curry's I am a qualified Indian Chef, and I own a High class Indian Restaurant in the UK, with 20 years proven record. My Chef Misbah Ahmed is a very sought after master Chef.

I have created many of the unique dishes we serve. So for me in TRNC I have not really eaten a curry that comes close to the choice in the UK. Also I lived near Wolverhampton, so the choice of Indian eateries speaks for itself.

I did go to the Courtyard one evening with friends and I asked the waiter to make our meals using certain spices and it was quite good.

The Indian Restaurants here are mostly Pakistani, In the Uk they are 85% Bangladeshi most of the owners come from one area there that is renown for cooking skills.

So I may be the wrong person to judge Indian Cuisine here. But after saying that I will go to the Courtyard simply on the wonderful staff and management and the ambiance.

My Restaurant is the Kings Repose Indian Cuisine. Its quite big on Google etc. if you go to the UK and are nearby you can go as my guest.

Well being a black country girl, I used to live near to Wolverhampton, and worked there for many years. I have been to the Kings Repose and have to say it was very good. I also liked the Bilal in the centre, and now the Malabar on the Penn Road.......sorry for going off topic a bit, but have to agree with Johnny Lee, in the Wolverhampton and other Black Country areas, there are some very good curry houses.

Back on topic, we had a fabulous night at Sultans in Catalkoy. Mainly Cypriots, both Greek and Turkish, with Cypriot music, dancing, belly dancer, plate smashing........the lot....oh, plus Bingo!!!!!! (which I hate)......excellent food and all you could drink....a few sore heads next day. Happy new year to all.

Still off topic, sorrry, we live in the south of Germany near Munich.

The Indian restaurants here are all run by "proper" Indians, and I would love to have some Pakistani/Bangladeshi restaurants around.

The curries here are not very good.

Heaven, my only problem is lack of time, lots have people have eaten at our home over the past few years. But to prepare curry properly takes a while, it is generally a whole day in the kitchen for me.

However, I may want to raise a few hundred TL this month, to send Ismail and his family to Turkey, for his ongoing Cancer check and possibly treatment (but hopefully just check up).

So I may have a plan based around this, it would help me kill several birds with one stone so to speak. Because I have quite a few people who want a curry night.

Sounds like everyone had a good NYE, so from me Mutlu Yillar.

This explains then the reason why the UK curries are the best in our opinion,we have traveled a lot with my husbands Career. We lived in India for a while and still found the typical UK curry superior. We do like the Courtyard, like someone said it is very English. Service and food is good . Johnnie I did not see a post for your New Year Eve event we would have come come along. We have met a fella in Esentepe who spends time here ,but when in the UK he frequents your place. We ate a very good curry a few years back at Esentepe Villa Hotel unfortunately it is now closed.
