Organising excess baggage with Turkish Airlines
Hi Folks
has anyone managed to organise online excess baggage to take back to the UK with Turkish Airlines one way?
I had a look at the site but cant see how you do that for just the flight back only as I will be booking a return flight from the UK.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I would suggest that you visit their offices in Nicosia and talk to them directly.

You did not used to be able to do this - i tried a couple of years back and all they said was to pay it at the gate - think iy was £9 a kilo - this may have changed

Having just returned with Turkish airlines and too much luggage, you cannot book it in on line or any other way. You just have to check in and then pay the excess whatever that may be, rather a lot in my case.

Re: Organising excess baggage with Turkish Airlines UPDATE
I have just spoken to the customer services dept. of Turkish Airlines in relation to excess baggage and below is the summarised update as promised.
You cannot pre-book and pay for excess baggage online as all calculations and payments are done at the airport so you have to ensure that you have time to do this.
All excess baggage for cargo ( not cabin) over the free allowance is charged at 10 euros per kg.
You are allowed to put the excess into more than one bag and no bag should exceed 32 kgs in weight.
The charges quoted to me were for flying from Ercan to the UK with excess baggage, other zones are calculated at varying tariffs.
I hope this is helpful.
cheers.

Re: Organising excess baggage with Turkish Airlines
Thanks for info. So if a case weighs 4kg that's about £30 to start with. Will try DHL or not buy the item.

Re: Organising excess baggage with Turkish Airlines
yes you are right about the case weight when it comes to paying for excess but, I will be using lightweight sports type bags for soft unbreakable items.
What sort of charges do DHL apply and where do they deliver to in UK?
I would be interested in that information please
Many thanks

Do not know where you want to fly to in Uk or how much luggage you have but you can fly Business Class with Cyprus Airways LCA to STN next week for 327 euro the allowance is 64 kilos & you get to drink champagne all the way!
