If you are going through Metehan checkpoint, or coming back, and you are peckish, do try the little place on the road up from the new road, from the Alaykoy (Lefkosa-Guzelyurt) road. It is on the right coming back from Metehan after you have turned left at the first roundabout just after the money exchange place. I don't often promote fast food, but this place, which is called Mamali'nin Yeri (Mamali's place) is run by a TC and his wife who had a string of fish and chip shops in the UK, all called Ocean Breeze, I believe. His name is Salih and both he and his wife speak perfect English. They have a board up with everything priced. I had an eggburger and it was a proper British eggburger, with fried onions and a sprinkle of shredded lettuce. The bun was right, the meat was right, the ketchup was right, and it was the best burger I've had in Cyprus in 10 years. He will make it any way you like. It was the best 12TL I've spent for a long time and went down a treat. The cafe is set back from the road 200 metres from the Metehan roundabout.

I do eat healthily most of the time, but sometimes, when you're hungry you just want to get your teeth into something substantial, do you know what I mean?

Great place, we always stop there when we are passing. Very clean and friendly family.
