Friends are coming out this weekend with their new ipad 3, which I believe can connect to the internet with a local SIM card - does anyone know where to purchase such a thing? I assume it's not the same card as a mobile uses - or is it??

Hi I would be careful when using any mobile for the internet, but by all means get a micro sim at least it will stop the enjoying message 'No Sim Card' you can get a card from almost any main mobile provider shop, but when ever you can use WiFi as this is free, set your I pad to ask to Join networks in the WiFi section( settings then General), this way it will alway ask you to join any wifi it picks up, most cafe & bars will give you the password, the good thing is the iPad,iPhone,iPod will alway recognise this wifi and connect automatically not using your mobile internet time
I pay 250 units for 250MB as a standard monthly charge, this is usually enough using the way I have explained
Like all internet services on mobiles its costly
Good luck

ozonkoyboy,
If your equipment ('phone / computer / tablet) will accept a 3G sim card, then 5 or 10GB of internet use will cost no more than 70TL.
Perhaps your 'phone won't work on 3G, but an iPad3 certainly will, and give full internet access at (normally ) very high speeds...
