Used them on the 6th Jan. Did have some concerns that this would happen and we would loose the flights. The booking agent we used went bust soon after we booked!

Try Norwegian Air, GTW - LCA. Quote for 20 Jan @ £49+ one-way.

thanks Tomsteele, did not know about Norweigen Air but I will remember them in the future for me. Parents booked on BA now as they are in their 80s bless them and I wanted them tucked away in business class as I am not sure how they are going to cope with the long flights as they have not flown in many years.

One tip with BA
Cost up both a return and 2 one ways , the two one ways often works out cheaper

In defence of the airlines what normally happens is that the first seats are the cheapest and the fuller the aircraft gets the more expensive the seats get though this may vary if travel operators give back block options. This was something that sprang out of the birth of budget airlines as on the "old days" they used to sell the cheaper seats last. Most of the reason flights will have gone up will be the plane is more full and inflationary increases year on year although operational costs should be falling with the oil price. Shortage of seats between routes may well see an increase in fares on that route however you are just as likely to see another operator trying to take over the route.
