Gas Central heating - Boiler

Gas central heating, if you have it may I ask a few questions
who fitted the boiler, also what make of boiler
who now services it
and being really cheeky would you recommend them?
I gather from those I know who have it Dave from Warmlife seemed to be the man and I remember him when he was employed in Karsiyaka before he set up warmlife.

Morning!
Ours is a Baykan Combi boiler (runs the radiators and hot water, or just hot water if required) arranged by our builder, but supplied and fitted by Ardıç, and serviced and repaired by them ever since, as and when needed. They seem to know what they are doing, are familiar with the product, keep all the spares to hand, and turn up when they say they will. Their charges are not too expensive either.

As it was arranged by our builder, I can't give you a realistic idea of what they would charge you if you dealt with them direct - and it was nine years ago anyway...

You can come round and toast your tootsies on the radiators if you like, as long as you take those dirty great clod-hopping boots off first!

Our neighbour (same builder, same style house) seems, as far as I know, to have had a similar experience, and a similar level of satisfaction.

I think that there is a lot to be said for using equipment that is freely available here, and where the suppliers have access to service data and spares, and familiarity with any servicing issues.

I do know of one installation, in a really high-class Villa, which used a super-duper (UK-sourced, I believe) boiler to run under-floor heating that has never worked for more than 3 consecutive days without needing attention, and in which, some years on, the (well known) suppliers seem totally disinterested...

Just my opinion, of course

p.s. I don't know Dave from Warmlife, but I'm sure that he's a Very Nice Man

We got ours from Mr Pipe, a Bosch make under a Turkish name. Excellent boiler and great service. In case you want to know, Mr Pipe is in Karakum on the left as you head for Catalkoy, near Turk Bank.

Thank you both for your recommendations, looks like I will be a busy bee and the PM, my customer had already told me not to let them cross his threshold or darken his doorway again!

Hi, I see that snd1966 has posted the numbers...

As she says, they don't speak much English, but I haven't found it to be a problem - they understand 'Boiler' & 'Kaput' , and do know the products that they deal with, so they know what are the likely sources of trouble, and their English does seem to extend to the sort of things that you are likely to say when talking about boilers...

Anyway, I've never had any trouble on that score, and they normally turn up same day, or next day (so far!)

As I said, you really need someone who deals with a particular product on a regular basis, so I wouldn't have any idea how they would cope with an item that was unknown to them.

Keith, my customer wants a new system and now the keys are here I can show them hopefully where the boiler will be situated. I think a trip to the shop with my friend will now help, she can do the talking!

To keep the members in the loop, Bosch a good boiler shipped from Germany, Buderus again a good boiler made by Bosch but assembled in Turkey.
Bosch also now own the UK company Worcester, well known boiler manufacturer. I gather the company you are told not to cross your threshold but that does not stop you buying and having someone else install it for you, that's what I do with my customers. You do have to let them set the boiler up to qualify for the Bosch guarantee.
Hope this helps.
Regards
C

Tel 0392 - 444 44 10.

They offer professional boiler, immersion, solar, powered and underfloor heating specialities and they are the main suppliers/authorised agents for most of the bigger brands of equipment used here.
We have had consistent and efficient service every time and ourselves been extremely pleased with the service. They are our neighbours so please let them know AMY gave you the details and give me any feedback on here if you find any issues with their service or just to recommend them yourself . I am asking as I am trying to complete a basic quality control customer service type study on their behalf in relation to their dealing with the ex pats population, so all feedback gratefully received.

We have a micro bore system run with a Potterton boiler. The boiler was imported by our supplier who has now left the island. We source parts when needed via the Potterton website and we have an English plumber who services the boiler and replaces parts when necessary.
No problems (touching wood quickly) over the last twelve years.
