Cornstarch/Glucose for culinary purposes

I do not seem to be able to buy Glucose anywhere, anyone got any ideas?

Wanting to make some old fashioned peppermints - sugar is no good for this as it goes brown when boiling and glucose does not.

We purchased 500gr jars from Anthienitis supermarket in the South, it was 2.10 Euros a jar.
It is Glucose syrup.

Ileli had bottles of glucose a while ago as I bought one there. The make is Dr Oetker.

Ileli have no glucose in at the moment. Corn starch is available in all the supermarkets in boxes and clear plastic bags. It is called mısır nişastası. Do not confuse it with mısır unu as that is corn meal and not at all the same thing.

Sorry Fatouche, I misled you. I meant corn syrup as that is what the Americans call Glucose.

Do not want to go south just for a kilo of this stuff. will bring it from my daughter's bakery in the uk. she gets it in in 10kg buckets. It is used in ganache for her cakes, makes them lovely and glossy.

I get my glucose/corn syrup from a wholesaler in Lefkoşa. You could try this substitute:

Thankyou Fatouche for suggesting the simple syrup recipe on Google.

I have tried this before and it is no good for boiled sweets which you want to stay in their original clear or green colour (peppermint sweets) so will wait until I go back in Spring.

I love to make toffee apples too and again, you cannot get a true colour with just brown sugar syrup base.
