We had to go to the new Alsancak Muhtar (Soner on 0533 851 86504). His office in the garage to the left of Ya Beles. He asked "why are you paying this money to get your residency, you are old enough not to have to" I told him that we were always being assured that eventually we would receive a white card provided we had enough residency stamps and it kept us more legal to do it this way" He smiled, shook his head and said "I don't think so" and carried on filling out the form. BTW - no charge.

I've always been one to agree with the "be legal" brigade, but as personal circumstances are causing us to become more and more disillusioned with beaurocrats in the TRNC, we're starting think "why bother"

Sophie, I also believed that if I renewed my residency every two years I'd be legal, but I virtually had the same conversation with
my advocate last week. She smiled aswell.
