I am certain thats not true.

Possibly.
However my last two "live chats" would indicate that during two recent football matches, the only subscribers that had problems were the ones with Multimax in the TRNC.
I do agree that it is strange as why would the ISP have any specific relevance to a NTV problem.
Equally strange is that the NTV operator would state that NTV uses Multimax as their ISP.

I have never used NTV since I set up my account, I now don't know how to login.
The web page someone gave me to login was ntv.mx but my computer says this web address is not safe.
Any help any one.
Thanks.

NTV.mx website is ok - your computer is being 'over-cautious'
The website will recognise that you are a Multimax user automatically.
If you didn't originally register, do it now.
If you did register and forgot your login details, try to log in with your email address, and just 'take a stab' at the password - if you get it wrong, the website will offer to email you a new password.

Have you asked any other users who have other ISP's if they have trouble with NTV? Perhaps you may find your answer there?

Jonnie,
Maybe I should have been a little more specific.
Two NTV operators wrote that the only subscribers having issues with NTV are those within the TRNC that are using MM. If you want to see what they wrote, I will gladly PM you the conversations, which I copied to Notepad.
So I do not see why these operators would have written it, if it was not true and if I believe them, which I do, I think they would know who was having problems.
The problems are always specific to a time and a channel. For example BBC 1 Friday evening 22:30. Man U v Cambridge. I use Live Chat as it is instant. So perhaps, to keep you happy, let me ask....
Did anyone have any problems with NTV on Friday evening at around 22:30 on BBC 1? If you did, please let us know what problems you experienced and who was your ISP.
Thank you.
I would like to add that NTV on the whole is a fabulous service, especially for the price. I do not watch too much NTV, but I do like my football and golf, which by its nature, is best watched live without too much interference.
Secondly, I also believe that Multimax provides an excellent service. They have improved beyond expectation. I now actually miss ringing their helpline and listening to the "Merry Multimax Music", as I cannot remember the last time I had a problem!

Hi Steve, I don't want to stick my nose in where it's not wanted, but it occurs to me that there are other possible questions...
1) Does anyone use NTV with an ISP other than Multimax?
2) Did anyone NOT have any trouble viewing at those times, and if not, who was their ISP?
If, in TRNC, there are ONLY Multimax customers using NTV (or if the ratio is so skewed, that there are very few non-MM customers in comparison to the number of MM ones), then it would still make sense of what the NTV people told you, but would tend to imply that the trouble is TRNC specific.
If you want to tell me to bugger off, that's fine

The answer is simple, these operators did not write such a thing. I have requested and read over your chat transcript with NTV customer support yesterday and nowhere in there there is any mention that only Multimax subscribers are suffering from NTV issues.
There is a clear mention of a minor NTV issue, and when you asked whether its TRNC specific, the response is negative and clearly state that everyone was affected of that issue.
There is a mention of 1 (one, yes, just one) other Multimax customer, without any mention whatsoever of how many other non-MM customers are at online chat with NTV support at the time.
Later in the conversation, you are clearly explained that that one other MM customer at online chat does not have similar problems with yours.
So, I really do not get where you draw your conclusions from, but they are simply not correct.

Keith.
I did as you said and went into ntv,mx and changed my password and all is working.
I have just bought a minix box and I am over the moon with the reception, normally with film on it buffers after 20.00hrs but this does not.
It is the minix 8h and the number of channels is fantastic, film on is called NOT FILM ON but all the same channels.
Were catch up will only let you view for 28 days this has all the series going way back so we can now watch as much catch up as we like.
Last night we watched Wolf Hall 1 the next is being screened next week BUT it was listed so we watched that as well.
Great product.

OK lets put it another way.
Is there anyone who has NTV, not using MM. I suspect the answer will be no as I believe MM are the only company who carry NTV. Perhaps this can be confirmed, it certainly was the case when it started. If this is still the case it would therefore follow that if there are NTV issues it would only affect MM customers however this does not mean that the issue lies with MM.

For info.
In the earliest days of NTV it was available only in the TRNC and only to those people with a MM connection. However soon after (I think around 6 months later) it was available to anyone anywhere (except in the UK) with any internet connection. There is no doubt that the majority of NTV subscribers that are in the TRNC are also MM customers rather than with say Extend or Nethouse because of this. In addition all MM customer still get access to some NTV channels without any NTV subscription. I do not know what the exact split is but I would estimate it is in the region of 10 to one. That is for every 1 nethouse or extend internet user that also uses NTV there is probably around 10 Multimax customers doing likewise.
As far as Butterflyaway's problems during the FA cup match shown on BBC1 I did actually investigate this myself during the match, after a request from NTV to see if I could check the MM side of things. I can say that on this specific occasion it definitely was not a MM wide issue as the first thing I do when I get such a request is to try the channel concerned from my own connection and for the 20 mins or so that I was monitoring that I was not experiencing the issues Butterflyaway was. Nor could I see anything wrong with Butterflyaway internet connection during this period of monitoring. That does not mean that it is definitely not anything to do with his MM connection but it certainly was not anything obvious and not anything general or even general to the locality he is in. I will be working to try and get top the bottom of what is going on here and this process was happening before this thread was started and would have continued the same way if it had never been created.

There are user forums in the UK for every internet provider, and everyone has a right good old moan about the service one way or another.
What a refreshing change to be able to communicate with the top brass of an ISP-Kemal and Erol are not shy in answering customers moans and groans with good humour and civility.
Can you imagine the grey suited execs from BT & Sky going on user forums and explaining things directly to consumers-I don't think so!
I accept time to time outages and minor problems as a fact of life, and always have a back up supply of TV series on a hard drive for such occasions,so overall, I am very happy indeed.
I appreciate that when you are trying to watch an important sporting event and it doesn't work it's frustrating-_Try using XBMC(KODI)-that way you can watch it from alternate sources rather than NTV.-It takes a bit of setting up and computer savvy but the end result is fantastic-you can watch pretty much any film or TV program that's ever been made .

I thought it may (or may not) be of interest to some to link to an article I wrote for the telegraph many many moons ago in a different country and in what feels almost like a different life.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science ... -Ziya.html
On reading it again with 14 years of hindsight I suppose it was a little idealistic and naive and I guess in relation to where I am now, on the 'other side of the fence' as it were, it is a little ironic and some may I suppose even think hypocritical. I do still believe however, despite all the pitfalls and difficulties and potential downsides that it is better for a company like MM to participate directly in public fora like this one than to not do so. Then again I could just be wrong.

Karmels - forgive my ignorance but what is a "minx 8h box"? Did you buy it in TRNC and is it connected to the TV or used through the laptop? Anyway it sounds good so please can you give further details.

muffin.
The minix -x8 h is a smart box which turns the flat screen into a smart tv, it it the same apps as a smart phone.
Just to give you some idea the channel Film on has a app on the Minix called NOT FILM ON, but you get all the channels anyway and they do not buffer.
The box is available from ebay or Amazon in the UK at between £90.00 and £130.00 including the air mouse with a key board for this price you get the new vertion Minix x8-h plus.
You need a good internet connection to get the best from this item.
Just have a look on ebay it will give you all the details, and if you know someone with a po box in the South there is no Import duty.

ham on brown.
Just had a look at their web site, they are not offering the Minix box. Check the details and then look at the Minix x8h on the web and you will see the difference.
They are charging £119.00 for 2meg, minix has 16 meg.
I rest my case.
