Why not go to the State Hospital - you get the same Dr's as you would if you go private. Otherwise go direct to Dr Turk at the Kolan Clinic in Girne.

girne state hospital are good and you would get the same treatment as you would in a private hospital.
i had my baby in the state hospital and i was very happy with the cleaness of the delivery room etc.

carpal tunnel i had this a couple of times before. but nothig major for an operation. they normally operate if needed
and it can normally go onto the other hand aswell.

bubbles - Owl Lady said "Kyrenia Medical Center" - not "girne medical centre"

"Kyrenia Medical Center" is near the top of 'Isil Sokak' which is on the opposite side of the road to HSBC.

Pertev's 'Hospetal' is further down Isil Sokak from the Medical Center.

However, I would agree with Sophie and you, on the point that you can see the same doctors at the State Hospitals (and most of the private 'Medical centers' and Clinics) as you would by consulting with them direct. The only difference is the price! - 15TL per consultation at the State Hospital, and that's to anyone, you don't have to be a Resident or anything...

I don't know whether Owl Lady's dissatisfaction was with the particular specialist, and the treatment plan, or concerned the 'Billing' practices of the Center, but it is as well to bear in mind that all the private Clinics and Medical Centers are, in fact, Businesses...

Perhaps best to go with a recommendation for a particular specialist or Hospital from someone who has been successfully treated for the same condition. (...and YES! - I do realise that that is what vickyfidd was asking for, in her initial post! )

I think that when you go to the Reception at the State Hospital, they tell you which specialist you need to see, and what days he/she is normally there. It may have altered since I was last there though - this is TRNC...

- And there's always a lot of 'sitting around, waiting' involved of course!

Sorry about my posting 'girne' and not 'kyrenia'
I get used to saying 'girne' a lot picking it up off my TC husband as he uses 'girne' word more than 'Kyrenia'

Hope you get it sorted Vicky

Hi bubbles - I too, always say 'Girne' (with a terrible accent ) when referring to the Town, it's just that 'Kyrenia Medical Center' is the actual name of the place...

Have a nice day!

Hi vickyfidd, sorry to hear that you have this painful condition. I would leave well alone and put up with the pain. I have it, plus trigger fingers in both hands. Last year I went to see a consultant privately and he suggested an operation. He himself operated on me in Girne Hospital. He done my left hand and I can honestly say it is still as painful, only the trigger finger has improved. I did not go back to have the other one done. I use painkillers and hot water bottles that seem to ease it a bit. Good luck whatever you decide to do and hope you have better luck than me.

foodie, you must have had the cow boy that did mine. He worked in Girne State hospital as well. Will obviously not name on here, but if anyone wants to PM me I will there. Not complaining re the billing system, apart from paying for a totally unnecessary operation and still discomfort!!!
