They (TRNC Government) could have built half a dozen brand new power stations in the time I've been here instead of faffing about bodging up the old rubbish ones, BUT soon we'll have a nuclear power station not to far away run by the butcher , baker, and candlestick maker so nothing to worry about eh !!

My friend spoke to some one at Kib-Tek at 7.30 am and they said they were unaware of a problem as no one called them. she said maybe because most of us were asleep when it went off. you couldnt make it up.

In answer to Royalcorpsoftranspor.
Considering the problems, conflicts and evils of the world which surrounds us, it appears odd to me that anyone should waste their time posting about a power cut which occurred in the middle of the night in midwinter and so inconvenienced a minuscule proportion of the population. But who am I to say when Facebook and Twitter are a total nonsense and mystery to me. Before anyone comments yes I am just as bad by putting my four penny worth of rubbish in.

There are some folk who are ill old or cold and maybe dont know where to call or know that they can if there is a problem. It is 2015 not the dark ages I think those of us who pay our bills in full and on time deserve better.

This is a forum for all with interests in north Cyprus so all topics posted have interest to some.
Its great for information such as this (I live in Catalkoy), having an idea when power is on and off is important to people.

Could not agree more, after hours of being off you may think its your own electrical system which may be at fault? This forum will always be useful for this kind of information.

I have found MultiMax to be the most reliable people to inform you when the power is off , they send me a text informing me when it will roughly be back on, to which I am always grateful

We had a power cut yesterday in Ozankoy for approx 5 hours from 09.00

I believe the Ozankoy cut was scheduled maintainance, and it seemed to me a sensible time - full daylight and between most people's breakfast and lunch times!

But I agree with Deniz, it is the nightime failures that endanger the vulnerable. I have a battery operated emergency system which brings on the lighting circuit if I have a power cut, to lessen the risk of tripping and falling inthe dark, but it doesnt run electric heaters and I have to move a bed-settee into the lounge in winter so I can sleep there in the relative warm of the fire embers if there is a lengthy night time cut.

I agree knowing what is wrong is important: another reason for having another go at learning Turkish?

I do speak turkish but Kibtek are very good at not understanding lol. I am a bit miffed when I get critisised for being helpful I wonder why I bother sometimes.

Take heart in the old saying, Deniz1. "As long as they are knocking me some other poor soul is being spared. "
Stay your usual cheerful self, lovely catching up, albeit quickly, the other day.

Sorry Deniz but who is criticising you? If you thought it was me , sorry but I thought I was AGREEING with you, If it was the comment about learning Turkish I did put a smiley (as suggested on another thread) to indicate it was a joke, not aimed at you or anyone in particular except perhaps with (rather than at) myself and others like me who struggle with the language.

Unfortunately to separate the wheat from the chaff, the useful from the useless entails opening and reading the thread.
Information on future power cuts - very useful.
Information on passed power cut - totally useless.

...And here's another useless piece of information - the discussion about the power cut has now been going on for over 3 times as long as the power cut itself

OldDog does make a valid point re. the Subject Heading - the more specific it is, then the less likely it is that OldDog will read it and start complaining

You'll be wanting 'Positive discrimination' then...

...Or should that be 'Alternating discrimination'?
