What do I need to take?
Sorry mods. I know this should go under Medical but everyone else is being cheeky and it is quite urgent.
After an x ray at Girne general hospital on Tuesday I was sent to the general hospital in Lefkosa for a scan.
This showed an abnormality and I have to go into the Lefkosa hospital on monday for three days for further tests.
I will take pyjamas and other personal stuff, ie toothpaste, soap etc etc.
Does anyone know please, do I have to take sheets, blanket etc or will this be provided and what is the situation as regards food?
I would be so grateful for information.

Re: What do I need to take?
I had an op there a couple of years ago. You will probably be in a room with 3-6 beds, you may wish to take some earplugs, not being funny but I found it quite noisy. TV was on most of the time and some of my roommates had family staying. Bedding and food is provided but is very basic - you may want to get food brought in when allowed, my room was very hot too. It's all a bit faded compared with private hospitals but it's kept clean and if you can speak a little turkish it will go a long way. Toilets are in a block - they were ok with people using the private nurses one. Don't remember showers - I took wipes. My brother was also in for 9 days after a stroke, we gave him a laptop and memory sticks with films and programmes loaded plus headphones and took him coffee every day and that kept him happy. For me I was in on Sunday, operated on Monday am (out of it for rest of day) and out on Tuesday. It was fine and a lot less expensive than private.
Hope everything goes well for you, E & G.

I wish you good luck with your stay in hospital. The pillow on my bed was stained so you may want to bring your own! Some of the patients in my room did have their own sheets and blanket and relatives changed them as needed. There were showers but wet wipes as suggested are a good idea. Bring your own towels too.If you can get out of bed by yourself you should be fine. If you are on bed rest the nurses will expect your relatives to help you with personal hygiene etc. Most patients I saw wore track suits during the day and changed at night. The food was basic but ok. No tea or coffee but did get fruit tea with every meal and a bottle of water daily. The ward I was on allowed relatives into the kitchen to make coffee and tea(bring your own) Most of the patients in my room had food brought in by relatives but also ate the hospital food. There isn't much privacy! My ward didn't have curtains around the beds. Although some wards did. There are movable screens on wheels that you can use if needed. Usually found in the corridor. I speak a little Turkish which the nurses appreciated. I also brought a Turkish/English phrase book which came in handy. Everyone was very helpful including relatives of other patients and the housekeeping staff.

Perhaps take a good book if you like reading, some anti bacterial wipes, and wish you good luck with your procedure!
Maybe a good time to catch up on letter writing if you do that
