Just been to pay my water in Karsiyaka and found the standing charge for 10 ton is now 25TL up from 15TL and the water over 10 ton is now 3TL / ton from 2TL.

I wouldn't grumble if I could buy a ton of water for 2 1/2 tl a ton. I have to pay 8tl a ton for mine, as there is no
mains water where we live. I wonder how much everyone will have to pay once the water from Turkey arrives? I
think everyone will be in for a shock, as somebody will have to pay for all the work it has entailed getting it here.
What does everyone else think?

Looks like the same increase in Lapta water costs too!

Saglik Resmi also seems to have doubled in price to 8.34tl per month as well!

Temizlik is now 20.00tl charged every 2 months, might have well updated the system and charge 10.00tl per month!

The alternate monthly bills would appear to add up to 34.59tl up from 19.92tl and 54.59tl up from 38.25tl
if my maths are right.

Catalkoy basic rate has been 25tl for a few years.

Such swingeing increases will inevitably result in more indigenous member of the population applying to the Kaymakamlik for exemption from paying bills. Expats do not have this option and thus will be paying increased charges to help foot the social security bill. Smart water meters will certainly be free to such people; others of us will pay for them through increased water charges. However we do live in a socialist state and must expect these things. This arrangement will doubtless mean an increase in the, at times, profligate use of water in order to get the full use of the mandatory 10 tonne charge from which there is no escape. Rod for one's own back springs to mind.

5 TL for 10 ton here... don't bother to hurry with the pipes to bring the Turkish water to Dipkarpaz

last month I used 5 tons of water, total bill was 32.52, including 4.17 for Saglik Resmi
This month I used 3 Tons of water, total bill 75.59. Included in this is a fee of 20tl for Temizlik, and 8.34 for Saglik Resmi.
We are actually getting charged 45tl for 10 tons now.
How on earth can the prices per ton vary so much?

Water up 10 tl/street cleaning a couple of tl,health spraying doubled,easy peasey.

They mean their water cost alone is 25tl, ours is 12tl which I think covers the first 10 units and Girne is 11tl but only covers the first 5 units. I wish they would lower the units instead of just upping the minimum cost, at least it is fairer on people who are not here or people who do not use a lot.

I don't complain about water costs here - in Gippsland, Victoria, we were paying AU$700 p.a. (TL1400for the provision of water, then had to pay for water usage, adding insult to injury.

These MASSIVE unjustified percentage increases in utilities and other bills are unsustainable it's no wonder many many people are leaving the island you would have to be a fool to want to live here now.

Why would you have to be a fool to live here now. It is still cheaper than the UK when you add everything together. Or at least I think so, but then again I'm a fool.

Posted on the other thread ....I live in greater manchester and we have shed loads of water .
I get charged £49 per month for water and sewage and we don't get anything sprayed .

Today's rate around 185 YTL per month ,so far better off there by a million miles .
Then council tax at £1550 per year ......

No wonder wotnodeeds people,are leaving this island for Warmer shores and lower a lower daily bills and far better quality of life

Hi whatnodeeds. Here is another fool then. What an awful fuss about an increase in water charges. Love it here, don't ever want to live in the uk again

We would love to get decent water as cheaply as many on here seem to. We pay 10tl a tonne for what is often smelly, brown and cloudy muck. To add insult to injury, Medview are so rubbish they forget (can't be bothered?) to check the tank so we have no water at all!!
