Anyone know if there's a group of like-minded people organising photography outings. Sure there's lot to capture in the TRNC but I'd like to develop my skills and share ideas with a few others.

If a few more would like to add their names to the list, then we might have a drink at a mutually convenient place to try organising something.
Let me know if you agree.

The nearest place to meet up for me is the Wild Duck. That's on the main road between Lapta and Karsiyaka. It might be helpful if we knew where those interested live to find somewhere central.

Anyone else interested - you're still welcome.

Do add your photos to the Kibkom Gallery for all to see:

Thanks for that, Soner. There's some interesting photographs on there.
I've seen links before on how to post photographs on the forum but can no longer find that for some reason. I suspect the photo gallery is a different procedure but I can't seem to locate the way to do that either. Can you help, please?

- Spring Meadow, Karpaz Peninsular 2012

- Acdeniz Beach 2013
I'm just trying out the facility to upload photographs to the forum, as suggested by Soner.
I'd like to be able to put them in the Photo Gallery but haven't managed to find that, yet!

For some reason I can't see your mail in my inbox on kibkom but I got an email about it so didn't know how to reply. We do normally lice in Cyprus but we are away for a month and not back until Mid March. So unfortunately can't make any meetings until after then.

I'm pretty new to the forum. I just clicked on the little envelopes next to the names to send an email. I guess this is to protect privacy, as no contact details are divulged.
Six replies so far so looking promising. Of those, four are not around until March. I'll get in touch then. I suggest we meet up say at Cafe George at the top of Girne High St. Either Tuesday 17th or Wednesday 18th would suit me. If you have a preference, let me know.

Change of plan. I won't be able to make a meeting mid-march on the dates I suggested. I'll be in touch with another suggestion.

If the interest hasn't waned too much by now, can we set up this meeting?
The good news is the swallows amongst you will have mostly returned by now. We need somewhere central so I suggest we meet in Girne. The harbour is a nice place to meet so how about the 'Six Brother's?
I'll be there from 11.00 on Tuesday 24th March. If I bring my camera, you should be able to spot me.
Looking forward to meeting up.

In case you are not familiar with Girne harbour, Six Brother's is right on the harbour. It's the premises furthest from the castle.

I also meant to say that you can park close by. For example, from Nicosia, leave the main road when you get to the bottom of the hill on the dual carriageway from Lefkosa to Girne. (After the speed camera.)
At the roundabout, take the second exit and drive straight on across the next roundabout until you reach the small roundabout at the top of the high street. Turn right (3rd exit.) The car park entrance is immediately on your left.
From the car park, the harbour is due North. Make your way back to the mini roundabout you just negotiated. Any of the roads off to the right will get you there.

As promised, details of the meeting for all interested are as follows:
Tuesday 24th March. We'll meet at the Six Brothers Restaurant, Kyrenia at 11.00am. It's the furthest one from the castle on the harbour front. Look for me with a camera bag on the table.
Hope to see you there,
Mike

I'd be interested, Mike, but I'm in the UK on the date you suggested, returning Wednesday 25th. Pls post if another get-together is arranged.

Of course one of the best ways to get out and about doing photography in Cyprus is to join us in a Kuskor birdwatching outing which are held on the first Saturday of each month. We visit a lot of spectacular sites with all sorts of wildlife (not just birds). Our next trip is on 4th April. Details should be in today's issue of Cyprus Today.

Thanks for the info Groucho. Will need to find out if wildlife photography is everyone's bag before arranging a shoot of this kind. I may well join you at some time in the future.

Unfortunately the ad for the trip was not in Saturday's CT but next week it should be. Of course when out birdwatching we are in the countryside so it's not just wildlife photography... There are beautiful landscapes, buildings, weather patterns and a variety of people too.

I tried a quick reply to your post, Eleanor but as that didn't promote the topic to the top of the forum, I'll try again.
Everyone is welcome. No special skills or expensive camera required.

- I've cheated here. This was taken in Hungary some time ago.
Tuesday 24th March @ Six Brother's Restaurant, Kyrenia Harbour.

Hoping to see as many as can make it tomorrow. Please bring your cameras if possible, as well as any ideas for locations, sharing photos and what works for you.
Just one thought; I haven't checked if the restaurant is open at 11.00am. We'll still meet there and move on if necessary.
See you there!

Have now set up a Google+ circle to share photos that those interested can post.
I will also try to get further publicity via Cyprus Today - either this week or next.
Please send me a personal message if you want to be included and I'll send you details.
