We have family trying to book flights Manchester to Larnaca at the end of May, they have used this route for years but now Monarch have stopped flying out of Manchester after May 20th. It seems a bit stupid as loads of people use this route during the summer season.

Turkish airlines is not an option for a family with three children, far too expensive in school holidays.

Monarch have moved the Manchester flights to Leeds Bradford since their financial restructure last year.
Depending on which side of Manchester you are Leeds Bradford is easy to get too and from the Rochdale side it is actually quicker and easier to get to Leeds Bradford at Yeadon than to Manchester airport.
Jet 2 are also an option from there too.
Thompson from Manchester as previously mentioned is another option.

Some people staying in our Hotel had booked with a travel agent Manchester flights Monarch to Larnaca and two weeks before had e-mail to say they were flying from Birmingham and had to pay extra.

Kavenkoy posted about this problem back in December (here); we booked a couple of weeks ago for Manchester - Larnaca - Manchester middle of April - so far OK, I'm just hoping we don't get a last-minute alteration email....

Yes, Turkish Airlines fly from Manchester via Istanbul to Ercan.

We fly back to the UK 4/5 times a year with Turkish Airlines Ercan-Istanbul-Manchester.

If you are a frequent flyer consider joining their Miles and Smiles program. The benefits include, (depending on the card you have) checking in at the business desk, extra luggage allowance, access to the business lounge at Istanbul and Manchester.

If you get to the airport early enough you can ask for the exit door seats at no extra cost. Their economy class has good seating, food and drinks all in of course.

There are two flights we get: Out of Ercan either 04.40 or the one we prefer 09.35 arrives at Istanbul 11.15. Flight to Manchester 12.50pm it might have just changed to 13.10. Arrives manchester 1515hrs.

Just enough time for a Red wine (or two) in the lounge

Turkish airlines from Manchester to Ercan every day 2 flights, 11am & 4.30 pm. Change of plane at Istanbul.

The change over time at Istanbul if you take the 11.15am was only one hour, very tight indeed, they have now added 40 minutes which makes it slightly better.

What is this Manchester you speak of?

I hear rumours that the world is not actually flat and doesn't end at Watford.................but I don't believe them.

It may be that there is some forbidden forgotten land somewhere up north which resembles the TRNC with no direct flights where they speak a sort of dialect which may once have been English...............but no, that would be ridiculous.............wouldn't it?

While actually a next-county neighbour (a Cheshire Lommeryed), I would suspect a Red Rose county inhabitant to respond in the lines of "Dust want a leather 'n' timber kiss? Ah'll tek a bit o' thi wom in me pocket! Th'art purrin' thi yed in a dog kennel!"
There is a well established "friendly rivalry" between Manchester and Liverpool, and a much longer and historical "competitiveness" between the Red Rose and White Rose factions (which may be enhanced by the transfer of flights from Manchester to Leeds/Bradford), but the danger of uniting these tribes against "them soft southerners"......
Oh dear!
I shall stand peacefully to one side.....

Please do not link anywhere "up North" to the TRNC. They are hundreds of years apart.

And with that reply I become a true "kibkomer" what's that all about?

Yes Elizabeth I posted earlier as it affected me hugely .
I booked July 26 th 3 flights for this August. Paid in full and early day flights to match my grandaughter and us travelling .
Wasn't cheap ,£1200 for 3 .i live in manchester and that is where I would expect to fly from.
Received email late last year moved the flgihts to Leeds ,and the times dramatically .
Customer service department of monarch ,laughable .

How we are now I have had my seats upgraded to legroom ( hardly business class ) they are paying my car park and fuel to am from the airport .
I have just had confirmation they will now pay my hotel bill for the afternoon to extend the room ( need a bill now lol ) and meal and snacks as I will be flying out much later than first planned .
I could have got a refund and flown easy jet liverpool but £200 dearer now ,and turkish it would have been a stop over in Istanbul .
I would have driven to stansted but Pegasus priced well over the odds and car parking £160 for 3 weeks extra .

So it is my best deal this year ,sadly they think they have own and moved me to Leeds and that i will do it again ,I won't fly from Leeds when I live in manchester why would I ....a international airport I live close to and easy access to Leeds petrol station in the middle of nowhere with road works on the 62 for 2 years .
This time yes stuck, next time no chance .
I would think they will sell the route to raise funds to somebody ?
It will be turkish for me next time early enough .

With all airlines ,BA ( heathrow hub ) Virgin ( gatwick hub ) they think northern folk will fly from London is another laugh .

Living in the South we really are spoiled for choice, 4 airports and at least 6 airlines. My daughter lives up North and it was a nightmare trying to find reasonably priced flights to Cyprus.

Perhaps the airlines think that if you live north of Watford gap you only go to Blackpool for your holidays.

Jet2.com site says they will be starting flights Manchester-Larnaca on 2 May; they appear to be twice a week in May, three a week June to September, then back to two a week....

Yes jofra they fly to lca anyway from manchester .
Tried their August flights and priced at £450 which for 1 adult I thought steep .

The turkish was better if I was flexible and that £320 much better .

With monarch I just would not use them from,Leeds ,it's a harder drive for me from manchester .
It's easier to fly easy jet at Liverpool cheers
