Can anyone recommend someone to build a generator shelter for a generator approx 3ft x 5ft with soundproofing

If you try to build a sound proof shelter you will choke the generator, the fumes from the exhaust will kill the engine, it needs fresh air.
The only way would be to have the exhaust outside, meaning it would not be sound proof but a bit quieter.

Or you can build a very nice attractive shelter by constructing a water proof top and slatted doors on two sides. If its against a wall then you only need three sides.

Karmels is correct, if you restrict the air flow the generator will overheat and damage both the engine and alternator that produces the electricity.
These units draw air to keep it cool so be careful !

The poster was asking about a sound proof generator box, putting slats in will no be sound proof, putting a external exhaust will also not make it sound proof.

Unfortunately generators are very noisy you have to put up with it.

There is only a limited amount you can do to sound proof it. I have a shed type building around mine. The exhaust is through the wood which is insulated, there is a mesh window. No problems or complaints from the neighbours!!

depending on were the generator is situated you can lessen the noise but you wont make it completely silent you will always get a hum at least

gates, a gentle hum is what my friends have who can afford to pay 6,000 GBP and above have from their generators. Those of us who can only afford in the region of 1,000 GBP have to put up with a lot of noise, but do what we can to lessen it, however little that may be karmels.

This is what you want
http://hyundaipowerequipment.co.uk/hyun ... generator/
Ideal as an stanby power unit,.. very quiet and clean smooth power for use with sensitive equipment such as computers.
You should be able to pick one up in the south for about £1200 ?

That looks very nice, Turtle, but I got the impression that they had already acquired a generator, and were hoping to 'muffle' it a bit...

27kva ? ... What you powering Nasa ?
The average house draws about 4kva max at any one time ?
If you can buy a 27kva gennie for £5k then i would like to know what it is as we will defo do some business together ?

the reason for such a big geny is once they are over a certain size they are 3phase so you have to phase them down hence losing some of the power also when you go over a certain size you are restricted buy engine size and coils hence the large capacity
They have a 1500 Mitsabishi engine that realy comes off tick over witch makes less noise than one revving the balls off it
This is why if you are interested i will contact them they come from Turkey but are apart from engine all Itailion components no Turkish rubbish and if needed well worth the money
