Hi guys,
Tomorrow there will be a rehearsal for Friday's "20 Temmuz" ceremony. So, part of road from the Gönyeli (or "Sh*t-on-a-Stick") roundabout towards Mağusa will be closed off from 8:30 am until the rehearsal finishes. On Friday, for the ceremony itself, the same bit of road will be closed off from 8 am until it all finishes.
Sorry for not posting this earlier - I have only just heard of it

You mean the jacket potatoes on sticks roundabout! Thanks for that. Fortunately i am going on into Lefkosia but it will make it difficult for people to come into Lefkosia. Must ring Soner cos he is going in, so thanks again for the warning.

I wish I had read this before I went to Lefkosia this morning - an absolute nightmare and surprisingly there were no road diversion signs!!

Hi Scooby,
Re : "I wish I had read this before I went to Lefkosia this morning - an absolute nightmare"
By television or whatever, the locals often hear of such things long before we do. You might like to visit the haberkktc website occasionally ... I'm sure you'll be understand the gist of most of the reports there.
Rgds,

If you want to drive from Girne to Mağusa or Ercan on Friday morning, then my advice would be to :

(a) follow the "mini-bus road" through Lefkoşa, not turning at any roundabouts or traffic lights ... until you get to the T-junction ... where you turn left ... and then drive the 2 or so kilometres back out to the Mağusa road.

or

(b) take the Buffavento/Beşparmak road over the mountains
