Went to the New Mandarin Chinese/Japanese/Thai Restaurant-Alsancak last night and had a great meal. Service was excellent, ambiance was excellent, and most importantly the food was excellent at a reasonable price. Best Chinese meal we have had here. Well worth a visit.

Hello Pete,
Where is this new restaurant - is it the Green Lotus take-away, or another new place?
Cheers,
HH

Thanks for your reply, Jen, But I don't know where Lacem used to be.
Was it where "The Roof" was a few years ago?

Turn by the Golden Lady, take first left, Marie's Bar is on the corner, and the Mandarin is on your right, just before
Açmenya restaurant.

It is between the Corner Bar and Ackmenya, think it used to be the Roof at one time in a previous life!!

Yes it was the Roof Bar, and what a place it was, You can still find it on U tube, Friday nights, standing room only and cars and people waiting for spaces, It really was the place to go.
So pleased to have been part of it.
I hope the new Restaurant has as much success.

It's a pity our Russian investors are leaving as fast as the Brits.

Difficult times here economically, and getting blatantly worse every year. Hard for bars and restaurants, survival of the very fit I think .

More like the survival of the ones that do it properly and have a business plan and the necessary finance.

You are correct with the finance bit, as the Government takes 80% in taxes, KDV, Social sigorta ect, then put the rent on top and you are not left with a lot.
It is nothing to do with doing it correctly or a work plan, we ran a successful restaurant for 15 yrs but it was not until we got our Kimlik cards did it begin to pay,we are now both retired and don't miss it one bit.

New shops are being built on the main road in Catalkoy the owner is asking £1000 a month rent. What sort of business could sustain that amount of money?

Went along last night, food was good and piping hot.......will definitely go often.......looking forward to the buffet when it starts up as some of the dishes on the menu were not familiar to my simple tastes and it will be good to try smaller portions of something I would be reluctant to order due to my lack of knowledge on their menu........looking forward to eating outside on the roof area if and when this rain ever stops..........well done to all concerned......10/10

We ate there last week, excellent !! Hope they can keep going with us " locals " as I'm sure when the holiday season kicks in they will be very busy. We've already told our family and friends about it and they can't wait to try it out when they're over later in the year. Good luck to you all at the Mandarin !

Thanks for the great feedback.
We survey almost all of our customers and look for faults and places the customer think we can do better or change things a little and its working.
We are now at the stage where the service is as good as we can get it and the food according to the majority of our customers is perfect for them.
We know we will never be every ones cup of tea,i suppose thats life .
I am very happy with the level of service we give to our customers and returning customers.

We have dinned there three times in the last 3 weeks with friends, last night being our latest visit. And each time the food and service has been excellent. Now looking forward to when the Roof Bar opens to serve drinks and finger platters, when I'm sure David will ensure his customer receive the same quality service, good food and drinks at a reasonable price.
Good luck with both these new projects.

Ahaa

Showing the cyprus flag in my view does not infer that the business is south based,i thought it might just mean Cyprus as the business is in cyprus.
If any one asks where i live i tell them Cyprus.
