Red palm weevel - removal of infected palm

Is there an organisation that I can contact for assistance with the removal and disposal of an infected palm? In just over 2 hours this afternoon my partner has killed over 50 larvae that were inside the base of the fronds of one of our palms. He has painstakingly removed the fronds individually and broken them open and then killed each larvae that were inside. He has only scratched the surface and already has 3 large bin liners full of the infected palm. This is going to take many days and we don't want any to mature and fly off in the meantime. We are also concerned about disposing of the bin bags because if there are any we have missed and are still alive they could spread elsewhere. If anyone can advise if there is any assistance for this that would be great and hopefully we can contain these evil bugs.

What does it look like? My Palm has a white stuff on the stalks and powdery stuff on the lower palm leaves. I found a red palm weevil in one of our bedroom last month and killed it.

Hi Judy,
You can get a specific insecticide that will kill the larvae and any beetles still in the tree. I got mine from Nature Garden in Alsancak. It is on the road towards Riverside, next to Acmenya Restaurant.
Another option is to pour kerosine onto it and burn them out.
Well done for managing to get as many as you have but they will be all the way down the trunk of the palm so you will need to cut the palm down and destroy it right down to the roots.
I have to say when mine was attacked, I wanted to take the dead palm to Girne and leave it on the doorstep of the old Girne Mayor. He was the one who imported the palms from Egypt some years back and bought the Palm Beetle here in the first place. Slowly they will kill all the date palms on the island
Good luck,
Yasmin
