Wedding advice please

Hi there my daughter is thinking of getting married here next year. Could I ask Kibkomers please for any advice as I haven't a clue where to start. She is intending to have only a small gathering, a couple of dozen or so people, and we would have to arrange the whole thing - so any advice/pitfalls to be avoided would be appreciated very much. Thank you in advance.

From my involvement of weddings here, most people normally need a certain amount of help from a professional planner here. But I do know of a few people who have done the job themselves.
There are some very good planners here and I am fairly certain that if you do not want the full service, they would assist with problematic areas and charge accordingly
From the feed back I have got from couples ,it does work out very reasonable. The last couple who contacted me to sing and DJ, did try to organise it themselves, but finished up using a planner for ease.
But they lived in the UK, so I suppose if you reside here you are in a much better position.
Good Luck.

Thank you both - I'm beginning to think very early on that a wedding planner would be the way to go (as nothing is straightforward here is it!)

Thank you to all those who have replied on the forum and PM'd me personally - I have found out from one of those contacts that as my daughter's father is a Turkish Cypriot she will be treated as if she is Turkish herself and would have to jump through hoops to actually have the wedding ceremony here. One of the conditions was that she would have to state she was resident here, which of course she's not. Because of all of this information she has reluctantly had to cancel the idea of getting married here, and have the wedding in the UK. We're all sorry about this as I know she would have had a wonderful experience, but it was just not to be. But I really would like to thank all of the people who took the trouble to give me advice - we weren't aware of the pitfalls, but it just goes to show how valuable Kibkom is in giving such helpful advice to its readers.

There are ways round this, you know. Many TC's have jumped through hoops, or wlaked around them to have the ceremony of their dreams here.
Wish you would tlak to me! Seems such a shame to give up already!

helendj, talk to Marions, she knows all about what is needed over here. She conducted the wedding service for my friend who got married in Bellapais. It was a fabulous day, and Marion was an absolute star.

Hello
Re message no 8. You have been given some incorrect information, you do not have to be resident here. I have organised many weddings for Turkish Cypriots who come from the UK to get married here. There are rules to be followed which can be a little complicated, but they are solvable if you know what you are doing. If the happy couple do not feel like having the actual wedding here, they could get married in the UK and have a Tying of The Knot or Blessing here.
And Thank you to Sportyboy x.
