Right its 6.10, its dark, and still a gun is going off close by..........lets hope they shoot each other and be done with it! I feel sorry for the owls, the only birds likely to be flying round in the dark.....or maybe bats!

Yesterday (Sunday) we were driving via the back roads from Ozankoy to the main road near the Ozankoy lemar, approx. 100 yards before the main road junction, we saw a dead Buzzard in the middle of the road ( approximately 11:00 am ). By the look of its feathers I would guess it had died or been killed no more than 4 hours earlier.
We moved it to the roadside to see if it had a ring, unfortunately it didn't.
Given this posts title, what was the likely cause of this beautiful birds demise?

As I post this, I have just heard on the BBC Radio 2 news that the numbers of songbirds shot or trapped on the Dheklia Base in the South has reached the highest levels ever recorded, who is counting them?
Isn't this base supposed to be secure? maybe the Russians could take over security of Sovereign bases when they start using Southern Cyprus ports!
