Is the duty free shop still there in the arrivals section ?
Also does anyone know how their prices compare with local shops/supermarkets ?
Thanks in advance

Last time we came thro' a few months ago it was open, cigs are cheaper than supermarkets but alcohol we found a little bit more expensive. Not open 24 hrs so depends on the time you arrive.

Landed at 00:50 on a monday morning and the shops were working just as you come out of passport control before you get your luggage
cigarettes are the cheapest you'll get

the duty free shops are available on departure too
with more or less the same prices
the prices are a bit less than in trnc, especially
ciggies
but otherwise not vastly cheaper
as is the case with most duty frees everywhere?
you choose your drinks carefully for the best deal

One thing I have found to be expensive is the perfume in Ercan (duty free!!!). Last time I went all the prices were in Euro and when he converted back into TL, the exchange rate was appalling. The man was amazed that we didn't buy a bottle. Much cheaper in Debenhams and Boots!!!

I would be interested to know the price of a bottle of Blue Label Smirnoff Vodka & a bottle of Southern Comfort, I've never bought at any duty free shops, just couldn't be bothered !

Didn't know I was asking, just thought it would be interesting to know if anyone on here may know what the prices are like in local shops/supermarkets, that's all.
I want to upgrade to Chase or Belvedere Vodka now ! so the availability of these 2 would be an asset upon my arrival in TRNC soon.

When we use to arrive at Ercan airport,I quickly caught on to, not only compare prices between the couple or so shops, but to also double check the price, then ask for a receipt, then check my change as more than once I had been overcharged.

Same here, kiplet. Used same duty free shop at Ercan for many years and noticed that I had been ripped off, no prices displayed and when asked good price given but when tilled, receipt had different higher prices and was short changed too, only noticed this one day because plan had been delayed and sat down checking my receipt, normally you would not have time as you rush around at the airport. Stopped using them and started to use other shop with prices displayed and barcodes used. Check you prices and change!!! There are some bad people around - shame on them.
