Vandal in Dipkarpaz

Apparently a 'vandal' smashed the glass of the Dipkarpaz ÇATOM shop and funnily enough our kind mayor was there straight away and had it repaired and changed the locks on the door. Now only he can enter it. Wasn't that kind of him!!!!
All the handicraft the women have made over the last 3 years is now locked up. The new mayor wants to control this group, but almost all of the women said no to him. He then just started a new Dipkarpaz Belediye Çatom group on Sunday, ignoring the original group. This original group has now become Dipkarpaz ÇATOM KOOP, recognised by government departments etc., but he will not accept their existence unless he has control.
The Dipkarpaz Belediye own the building and the previous mayor let the group use it free of charge. That is the problem really. The new mayor wants to eliminate anything the old mayor created, not caring who gets upset by this. These women had to fight hard to create this independence!!!!!
But they will not give up. They will find another shop and will start again!!!
This may not be big news in Girne, but I needed to share it, I'm so angry!!!

Thanks for sharing that. So sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope all the ladies ignore him and his new group. Why not meet somewhere like your home until other premises can be found. Is there anyone in Government to whom you can appeal. Yours is a great group and I have seen your work - in fact some of it is now at Lodi and Senigallia in Italy for I took it over last year.
What on earth can the Muhtar hope to achieve. But as I say, if no one goes he has no group and I would also suggest you find a lawyer (sympathetic) who will insist that the work which is locked up is given to you ladies.
Have you got this news in the Turkish Press???? You should! Name and shame!
Really sorry, but be strong. YOu are a super group of talented ladies who have worked really hard - so don't fall over at this man made hurdle.
