The school my daughter attends in the TRNC (which I can't name??) have increased her fees by 7% and transport by 11% (which seems extreme as fuel costs have actually decreased??). Is this in line with the inflation rate here? Having previously worked as a Bursar in the UK we tended to raise fees in line with the inflation rate.

Are the fees in GBP? in which case they could arguable decrease as the school will pay a lot of costs in Tl and will get more Tl for their money. GBP salaries are of course unaffected.

If the school fees are in Euro, maybe it's a result of the weakening currency also?

In terms of inflation, given the amount of imported goods here, and the weak Tl, there is a good chance the fees have actually increased well below the inflation that will soon arrive.

The fees are in Sterling .....

Turkish (&NC) Inflation is currently about 7.5-8.00%, down from it's recent peak of 10%. Fuel is down due to the drop in World Oil prices.
Any Lira based Turkish or NC products or services will obviously be higher than, say, a year ago.
Imported goods or Services may also be quite effected by Exchange Rates, especially £, $ or Euro, and higher in cost. Any Russian or S African products or services should be unchanged,.. or cheaper!

The 'bright side' is that if you have Lira savings getting 8% or more,... you are 'net' gaining!

It'll probably be 'All Change' again in another few months.
