advice please:
My car tax runs out today 31st March. Do I need to renew it tomorrow 1st April ? Or can I wait until later in the month as was the case in the UK?

As far as i am aware - you can pay it within the two weeks following the date of expiry, without any fines being imposed. It will be backdated to the 1st april though.

(2-4 weeks after the date of expiry it's at the discretion of the tax office)

It used to tell you about payment dates on the printed paper that the tax disc comes with, but this may have been discontinued.

You can renew the tax any time in April
