Yes, I know it is a secular Muslim state and I too can speculate as to whether they do or do not blah blah....
but, does anyone know for sure if the car tax office in Nicosia will be open Friday / Monday ?

Why should they be closed? Perhaps call them first? They do not celebrate Easter as we do. Even the south side, as Orthodox Christians, have different dates for Easter more often than not.
The Kaymakam office no is : 0392 815 22 67. They will be able to give you the correct info.

Thank you, will give them a call, only reason for asking is that once being under British rule everything would have been closed for Easter (whenever that falls), have learned never to take anything for granted here I though I would ask before setting off !

I gave up booze and cakes for Lent, dare not go near the Food Lodge tomorrow, I would buy up the shop... yeah just seen the typo.....

Like Elkiton I gave up Booze for Lent, lost quite a lot of weight and frankly not sure whether I'm going to bother to start again. Life has ticked along very nicely and more cheaply with out it!! Not a big cake eater so not bothered with those either. (sorry, off topic - blame Elkiton)

Totally off topic but I don't mind, a combination of Lent and the 5:2 has resulted in a 9 Kilo loss since Jan 1st, have had to dump a load of good but baggy clothes to KAR, and no I will never need them again as I have embarked on the next stone to lose, takes me back to the weight I was when I left the RAF in 1876, well it feels like that !

My apologies Elkiton, for teasing when you were suffering (I couldnt resist the idea of an Eater Friday). Congratulations on your will power.
I gave up alcohol for a while five or so years ago, and when I went back found I had lost the taste so gave up permanently for the sake of my figure and bank balance. I dont miss it, but do sometimes wish there were more exciting soft drinks particularly for celebratory occasions.
