In the last couple of weeks I've bought a 500GB and my son has bought a 1TB Toshiba 2TB Canvio Drive from Tesco Direct (online), and they also have the 2TB version for £85 - unfortunately, I don't know whether (and doubt that) they deliver internationally - I think it's clothing only.
A pity I hadn't known earlier; I could have ordered and brought one but not enough time; we're coming over tomorrow!

Most of the bigger computer shops in Kyrenia/Lefkosa sell external hard drives, but make sure you buy a branded make, e.g. western digital, samsung, toshiba, seagate etc.

If you have fairly new computer with USB3 capability, go for a USB3 compatible type.

If you have an older computer and are not going to upgrade in the near future - USB2 will do. Although the USB3's are backward compatible with older systems, they will not transfer data at the stated speeds unless you have a USB3 equipped computer system/interface card.

Also if your operating system is an older version of windows, you may well find that a USB3 drive will not be recognised or freeze up, especially the non-branded makes.

I have bought both seagate & western digital external drives and both work on USB2/3 with windows 7/8 and the difference in speed transfer is only a few seconds, which i can live with.

I get mine at Laconic Computers in Girne. Of course it could wall be cheaper in U.K but if you give Laocnic a ring on 0392 815 1852 you could find out and depending on how urgent you could get form there or get someone to bring one out.
