New water meters TBV

Does anyone know what the min / max amount is that you can put on these pre paid cards?
Does the min amount cover a certain amount of water like the old bills used to, or is it a certain amount of TL per tonne?
Thanks in advance

Ha ha - that's what the Belediye say... you pay in advance - thanks!
There is no theoretical maximum - if you are mad enough to give them millions they'll take it... you can pay the meter rental and fitting charge and put nothing on for actual water, so the minimum is also theoretically unlimited by a positive amount - but they won't give you money if you put minus 10 tonnes.

I thought someone suggested that if you buy up to 10 tons you get it for the normal rate but if you go for more than that you pay at the higher rates that were applicable before the new meters. If like us you use less than 10 tons per month, it will build up automatically when you pay each month.

Not quite - the meters accelerate the charge if you go over the 10 tonnes.... as long as your monthly usage stays below 10 you will not get charged at the higher rate, so there is no reason to worry about putting too much on the card. Beause the first 10 tonnes used in any month will only be charged at the lower rate - even here they don't believe they will get away with that dodge.

so is there a standing charge of 10 tons a month whether you use the water or not on these meters like the old paper bills

I thought the idea was you only got water if you were in credit and only pay for what water you actually use.

No - if you don't use any water you don't pay for any water... the first ten tonnes are charged at the lower rate and the subsequent at the next charging band and so on... there are other charges relating to rental of the meter and payment for the installation.

The best thing to do is ask at your local Belediye, different villages have different charges. Under Esentepe, we have always paid for what we have used, no minimum charge. Other areas have the 10 tonne minimum charge so I'd be surprised if they give up that guaranteed income....

Thank you all for the replies...
Topped up my card 50tl, had 1.8 tonnes of the 3 tonnes they put on when meters were installed, after my top up, I have 3.3 tonnes. Something not right there.
I rent my place, not sure I should be paying for the meter rental..... but perhaps I am?

Lozzycroft - what does your rental contract say on the issue of 'charges'?

The three tonnes on the meter when installed has to be paid for - so the 50tl you've paid to top up for water would give you 5 tonnes - you've used some leaving 3.3 sounds not far off to me.

If your paying 50TL for 10tons of water you must still be on builders tarrif.

Sorry you are quite right - you should get 25 tonnes for 50tl but then there must have been some standing charges... we have to pay 17tl for rubbish collection and health and 5tl meter 'rental' - apparently we are not buying the meter only renting it... If it goes 'phut' then they will replace it...

If there's are other charges then that's fine but I just know it was about 30tl for 10 tonnes with the old meter so was expecting more than what I got.
When I next top it up I'll be sure to make sure I enquire about what it is I'm paying for exactly.
My contract says I'm liable for "electricity & water used" but to be honest if the rental is 5tl I won't be arguing about that!!

Esentepe Belediye would not let me pay more than 200TL on our meter card last month. Monthly usage will affect the rate charged. The Belediye would not be specific, but stated that their charges ranged from 2TL to 10TL per tonne.
