A 3-horse race ?

There might be others out there also vying to take on the recently-vacated mantle of Northern Cyprus' principal English-medium forum, but as of 5 pm on Wednesday, April 11th, it would appear to be a three-horse race.

Kibkom
Members : 271
Threads : 98
First thread : April 4th

North Cyprus Views
Members : 253
Threads : 92
First thread : April 8th

Lemon Grove Cyprus
Members : 103
Threads : 116
First thread : April 6th

Overall assessment : "Kibkom" still out in front, "North Cyprus Views" coming up strong ... with "Lemon Grove" well supported ... and with the most threads. Still very much all to play for ... and I'm sure Soner, John and Dan welcome the competition

Same message sent to all three forums.

By the way, last night I cleared out a lot of registrations created by bots, - are the others doing the same?

I would hope they are, it will be a nightmare to sort out the bots if they leave it too long.

That would explain why I seemed to have jumped 20 or 30 member positions overnight.

Had no idea that North Cyprus Views and Lemon Grove were in the race.

Re : "Hope 'H' is well." - Yep, Havva's well.
Re : (on the "cheap Imitations" thread) "5 or 6 other such forums" - I didn't realise there were so many.

Are you thinking of pulling the plug on the Turkish-medium Kibkom forum - as yet no threads It would seem to me that the Turks & TCs here don't need a forum :
* they have numerous television channels to tell them of any events happening
* they have newspapers if they want to buy a second-hand car etc
* they have their extended families and/or friends if they want any advice about anything
* and if they get bored, there is normally a friend living close by to chat with.

Yeah, we yabancis here are a sad bunch

iancrumpy, - no will promote it in July - need to get moderators first. The Kibkom Business directory has been doing very well over the last 2 years and is starting to really exceed - many companies in Turkey are starting to register and I feel that the forum and chat may eventually take off - anyway this is all a 10 year plan, whether it works or not time will tell.

There are more than 3 horses in the race/battle, and seemingly more and more each day. All gets a bit fragmented. And now there are copy cats offering what KibKom is offering......
I am sure that many people just want a forum as Cyp44 where they can chat, ask for advice, give advice, spread news and create an on line 'family'. The perks are good, but not the basis for getting people to sign up.

What is a bot??? I assume you mean the ones who sign on and 'spam'?

Keep going soner and run the race for the trial period. Then we can see whose nose goes through the finishing line first. meanwhile, it is both exciting and boring at the same time. I don't see it as competition, but it is being made so by others.

Quite agree scarlets. got invited to join North Cyprus Views today .................first reaction.....................not another one.......but joined.........
All seem to have a different feel.......

Suppose it all depends what you need it for and how well it is run.

Lets hope the forums can work side by side and not get bitchy towards each other.

Sometimes you just want a bit of help and advice and like to feel you are not the only one...........

Well said LooseBoots.... it's a free World so you are free to jump from forum to forum. There is no war, I see no bullets flying this time around. Just got a little annoyed with some of the statements made by other forums - but I should know better, I am a grown man after all..... well most sometimes.

Confession time, folks! I belong to several forums (or should it be 'fora'?). I think if it is something of real importance then the message needs to be spread around. But I do feel it has reached a point where there are more than enough for people to choose form (or go with them all) and although I love meeting people through these pages, I don 't have the time to commit to them all on the same level.
choices, choices, choices. That is what life is all about, and I do feel it is important that people are happy with their choices. Only tonight I had an e mail from someone who is scared to join another forum because she got so badly burnt on Cyprus 44.
