Cataract operation in the TRNC.

It looks like I will be requiring cataract operations (both eyes) later this year and was wondering whether anybody can supply any info\recommends as to the best doctor\hospital to use, and a rough idea of costs.
Any and all feedback would be much appreciated.

A friend asked me for a recommendation and we pointed him to Dr. Mustafa Güvenir in Lefkosa (behind the Akay optik shop which is opposite the State hospital) as a first point of contact, he was very pleased with the advice.

Might be worth seeing him before you go further.

Just by the Bellapai traffic lights, from Girne turn left on the corner of the next road on the right. She has her own operating theatre under the shop, only heard good comments about her.

Dr Hatice at Cyprus eye clinic tel 0392 8159893 as above from laptatony. She is excellent and has her own rooms below eye testing place. Met an English guy there who had just had them done and he was very pleased. Always go there for eye checks. Lovely lady speaks excellent English. Good luck.

Dr Hatice performed a cataract operation on my wife's eye at her old premises before she moved ..
Complications arose & a ¼hr operation took 1½hrs ..
She said that in 18years of practice this problem had occurred only 6 times ..
Everything turned out fine .. Glad that she did it .. Thoroughly recommend Dr Hatice ..

Was told by Dr Hatice I needed cataract done, 1 week later went to optician in UK whilst on holiday, says not at least for another 2 years. When mentioning it to people they also had been told needed them doing but on second opinions this was not so. Difficult decision, also know Dr. Give it has a wonderful reputation.

Just come back from UK and read in the papers whilst there that there is reluctance now to offer cataract ops on nhs and that they are starting to charge people, because the money is not there in nhs...so maybe that is why the 'second opinion' in UK is saying not necessary for another couple of years. Just a thought!! The report I read was actually quite shocking and indicated that people are being refused the op unless they pay...

Dont worry, rocking. Did you learn touch typing on an ordinary typewriter? I did, and I found (and still sometimes do) problems transferring to a computer keyboard. Its so much more sensitive and the keys closer together than even an electronic one and so many more functions, that its easy to touch the wrong one by mistake - particularly if the ISP is going faster or slower than normal: and the ****** thing jumps all over the placee

Also I move the PC into a warmer room in winter, so I have not sitting at the proper height which also leads to when touch typing.

PS Back on topic: I used Dr. Hatice for cateract operation (actually she was my second opinion!) and found her efficient and caring. She even gave me her mobile so I could phone her direct and outof hours and have no language problems if I had worries. She is also very, very stringent about hygiene.
