Is Salty closing in Karakum or opening another place in Alsancak in May?

Hope he is not closing the one in Girne, don't fancy travelling all the way to Alsancak for our regular dose of fish and chips.

Just been in the Girne one.....the Alsancak one is another, he is not closing the current one. Fish and chips were cooked by the new chef, and very good they were too.

Jonny1 yes that is the one. Portion of fish and chips was 24 or 26 tl yesterday, I didn't take that much notice, too busy enjoying the food. Fish was HUGE.

Why open a new fish & chip shop within 100m of another shop called Lokmans in Alsancak which is very popular and serves good eat in or takeaway portions with mushy peas for 20tl. There was a fish shop next door to thîs new one a few yrs ago which closed down.
I have tried salty's and it was good food.
If they were opening a shop in Lapta I would understand as it would do a good trade as people have to drive from there and Karsiyaka to Alsancak for fish and chips.
Anyway I will give it a try.

Whereabouts exactly is the Salty's shop in Alsancak?

The other end of the Block to Bereket Restaurant (which used to be Chapter One).

For anyone who doesn't know the area, coming from Girne, past the Golden Lady, stay on the coast road, and it's just past the next road, on the left.

Oops, bit too enthusiastic, mind you, the preserved lemon chicken tagine knocked up by my husband went down quite well. Not the same as fish and chips, I'll just have to keep an eye on when they open.

Lokmans going down hill I feel. Probably OK if you eat in, but the last couple of times when we got back home (less than 7mins drive) the batter was little short of disgusting. You could have soled your shoes with it. We peeled it off in one piece and gave to the dogs. They chewed it for a few minutes and gave up. It was ready to pick up when we arrived and we were dead on time. Perhaps it had been cooked too early and sat waiting for us.

I do agree that fish and chips don't travel!

Even from out favourite fish and chip shop in the UK, a couple of minutes 'wrapped up' would let the steam soften everything beyond recognition.

I used Lockmans 2 days ago, to eat in, and everything was as crisp as crisp could be, and being from a fishing Port, with a fish and chip shop every 100 yards along every main road, I am well aware of what good fish and chips should be like...

Fish and chips were designed to be eaten 'on-the-spot'!
