Boat trips for elderly

Can anyone please tell me if there is a boat trip here out of the harbour that is safe for my Dad. He is 87 and not very good on his feet. We would have to take the car right up to the boat. I am also worried about the gangplank. Are there any disabled facilities? He would really love to go out on a trip being an ex sailor. Thankyou in advance.

Even if there were one, someone would have to drop your Dad off at the Boat which might mean special permission for taking a car into the Harbour. Also remember toilet facilities are limited and usually down steep steps into the hold, and he would probably spend most of the trip sitting on uncomfortable benches, And he would need someone with him to queue for food.
The best thing would be to get a group together of slightly less mobile people and charter a boat for a shorter trip with perhaps snacks rather than a full meal and only one swimming stop.
I others are interested and someone could look into the possibility and costs of hiring for a short trip, I will look into the possibility of a car or minibus to get people to the side of the boat.
The crews are usually very good about helping people up the gangplank but they would neeed to be briefed and it would need some able bodies helpers.

'fraid so, Snowball, I have to say the lack of consideration shown for the less able is one of my hobby horses.
but dont despair! It is early in the season yet for boat trips; keep bringing it to the top, and maybe one of the owners will see it, or be told about the post, and come up with an idea. Or you could go to the harbour and talk to them. maybe early in the season when they dont have too many customers they might think about a special trip!
g
ARe you familiary with the country Snowball? If not when I want to get an experience a tiny bit like being at sea I go to the Delta Cafe at the new harbour or Shayna at Catalkoy for coffee or a meal.

You can get a car right next to the boat as long as its before 11am when the harbour is closed to traffic. My friends have a boat there Sabrina2 only three steps down to the toilet with handrails and very nice cushions on the seats and plenty of shade or upright chairs if preferred. They will willingly help you on board.

Thankyou again Ragged Robin.
Deniz 1. I am worried about the gangplank getting him safely on and off. The seating sounds good, but what about when we get back in? He cannot walk back up to the car park. Have you got a telephone no please? Thankyou for your help.

there are plenty of staff who would gladly help with on and off If you get their early enough you can park the car just at the end by the castle not far from the boat then.Have a coffee while you wait .
the gang plank is quite steady. Not Sabrina 3 for you the loo is a long way down. 0533 869 2561. If you want a look see first they will show you over the boat. Later on in the year they do a sunset cruise with dinner leaves about 7pm comes back about 9.30 dinner on board. I used to work for them and thats a lovely time to go out.
