Does anyone know if this great place has changed hands. Had a bite there yday and it felt 'different' plus no sign of the boss.

I agree, my husband and I have been there recently, We usually have very good service, good food, great price, takeaway collect or delivered all very good, but this time something was different, didn't quite taste the same and the staff looked new.

We are now looking for somewhere else to try - any suggestions anyone?

Went there Wednesday had a take away and it was first rate. The boss was there he served me but he was not his normal happy self. Prices had shot up due to exchange rate I suppose.

But we have used the place for 7 years and always the best. But we did have meal there once and it was not up to its normal standard, but I told him and asked us to return complimentary.

Unfortunatley this is a fact of life sometimes things can slide especially if the person in charge is not present, or in the case of restaurant if the chef is taking a day off.

But give him a chance, go back and voice your opinion.

We have had 2 meals from there in the last 10 days and they were both excellent as usual. One was eat in and was takeaway and the standard of both was as good as it's always been.

Nothing has changed except the prices. I do know that Alsancak Bele are a bit greedy with the business rates and I feel a bit sorry for them, their prices have been fair for 10 years (cheap even) but now it is about on a par with Chicken Ezic, obviously they have nicer ambiance so will lose a few customers.

I have known the owner for all 10 years and his brother who does the kebabbing. Lovely lads who even held it all together when their mum died suddenly about 3 years ago. Their meat is good quality as it comes from their dad who has the butchers shop further down the village.

I have noticed staff changes though, the lad who used to serve us did not even have to take our order, just brought our drinks and ordered our food with the kitchen. The last 3 or 4 times we were there we did not see him - and got no bread, pickles or yoghurt. Ibrahim (the boss) is up against it I think at the moment.

We will not stop going though as these lads deserve their success, hardworking and care about standards. If you ever have a meal which is not up to scratch, tell Ibrahim and he will put it right.

He is back at fast food now. The place opposite Starling didn't work out for him. He was 9ur waiter again last week.
