I don't know the answer but I had to pose a question to Turkish Airlines the other day and used this email address for the Lefkosa office, I got a reply within 24 hours: kibrismarketing@thy.com
Added bonus is that I got a customer service reference and written confirmation to show the check-in staff. Plus you will get the answer from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Just read the baggage info on their website !!

In the event of the following your baggage will not be accepted on board the flight:

Your baggage is liable to cause damage to the aircraft, passengers or other cargo,
Your baggage is not packaged in a way that facilitates orderly and safe handling,
Your baggage contains items whose transport is prohibited by laws and regulations in any of the states of departure, destination or overflight.,
Your baggage is of dimensions exceeding size limits,
Any piece of baggage exceeds 32 kg,
Your baggage contains prohibited hazardous substances.

I can confirm that the maximum weight allowed for any single item of luggage is 32kgs. The luggage belt at check-in (at most airports) will not work if the item is even 200 grams over. Hope this helps.

Yes, you're right, of course fincho, but the question was not "What is your (free) allowance", but "what is the maximumum permissible weight per item"

In 2012 I brought back a single bag that weighed 48kg.....it was a huge holdall. So they do take bigger than advertised but I would take the advice given and check first.
