Just as a question but did they have a license to cut your trees? The law changed a few months ago and it is now very difficult to even prune trees with first obtaining a license. To move cut wood from one place to another is now a total nightmare which will probably mean a steep increase in firewood prices this year - keep an eye on it people!

terry2366, thanks for the reply, good to know that some of the new laws have taken effect, there are only a limited number of trees left!

Im assuming you are allowed to top trees that are too tall. Also I have one that bends over the public footpath at the side of my house and want it taken down.It won't be completely removed but would have a trunk about two feet high left in the ground.Any info would be great before I get myself if any trouble.

Totally depends on the tree. The trees we have are black pine and they are protected. You cannot even trim them without permission. We have trimmed ours in the past (after checking with the Orman Dairesi) and they are very strict. If the trees affect the growth of say fruit trees, they will allow it but only the bits that are doing the affecting! The ones we have had permission to fell are growing at odd angles because they are too close to other bigger trees.

Hello All,

some trees are protected and some are not so you must know what you are doing. also chainsaw must be registered and licensed.
we were cutting some trees two weeks ago in Alsancak and Orman Dairesi arrived with in 30 minutes and checked all are licenses then wend back and we continued working.

if anyone likes any information's or quotes please contact me and will do the job safely and buy the law.

Thankyou Terry for your message and while I fully understand your reluctance to post private phone numbers on the board I can't see the problem with business/government numbers. After all,the businesses would probably be happy of the publicity and I thought part of the aim of this board was to help people.

You seem extremely interested I must say.

We have now received our stamped confirmation letter from the Orman Dairesi about the trimming of our Cypress trees. It states that we must inform them of when we will be cutting them.

Tree and a Turd Image

.

.........is that your coat or mine?.....
